stephanie is: artistic…
i bought a couple colors of oil paint and a book on it recently so i can put to use my new easel (thank you moosie!). i only ever took one painting class in college – my heart was in printmaking, drawing, and graphic design. i was good at making the paint turn into brown mush, hehe. one time i was rushed and used a store bought canvas instead of gessoing my own (i usually ended up gessoing half the art studio, doh) – and elvis eating a twinkie appeared in the paint. the paint wouldn’t stick where he was. it was so amusing art teachers all over the building came by. had to throw that canvas out. i only saved one painting from that class – a painting of my yellow umbrella.
so today i did my first exersize from the painting book – a monotone still life painting. it didn’t blend all together so i am happy enough with it. hopefully once i have done a bunch of these exercises i will really have a feel for oil paint.

who wants to go to don pablos for diner? neeeeed! hehe, mmm.
very nice. that is one thing i wish i could do is draw!
Paint… I luv 2 paint…
That’s actually fairly impressive as a first attempt in a new media.. Oils are a pain in the ass, I never could get them to work quite right. You should keep us up to date on your new pieces…
Don’t overwork it!… I made so many wonderful grey/brown paintings that way! 😉
Feels good though to pick up a brush and actually lay some paint down…especially after doing computer graphics eh?
Computer painting always feels like cheating to me…
That’s great! Looks like a work of art to me. 🙂
very nice!
and coincidental too. i’m pickin up a table-top easel with oil paints when i get my next paycheck. i’ve tried acrylic paints in the past, but never meshed with em. now that i’m workin in an art supply store, i have no excuse not to try oil. 🙂
you have a big box o crafty stuffs that is on its way from me 🙂
I sent it yesterday, minus one orange kitty cat..
that looks very nice, i never could get oil painting down too well, i like sketching better. but that really is impressive 🙂
Thats nice
I was wondering, what was the book that you are using? Thankx
MmMmmmm… Don Pablos… unfortunately I can’t afford it 🙁
that’s lovely! wow. hello, talented person.
