stephanie is: groggy groggy…

a quick post about my last post then i am going back to sleep.

i am not going to try dye my hair darker. i always think about it but it won’t work. whe 100% natural, my hair is light blonde from about the ears down. this hair hates to be darker. perminant dye fade in a week on me. even if it actually took my hair bleaches to the color it is now in the summer. so i shall just try to find my conditioner or one that is equal, keep trimming, and lighten the roots less often. generally my hair looks a feels healthier after i dye it (except when i try making it darker – it looks super dy then). but something happens in the summer. first day over 80 degrees and my hair is instantly fragil till the first day of fall. i just get frustrated.

  1. I have the same problem. A few months back I colored my hair a burgendy red … each week the color faded. I’ve just grown to accept it, not that I like it. If I could find a product that didn’t kill my hair or fade I would be in heaven.

  2. Hmmm yeah..

Denise has problems keeping her hair nice since it is so long… Best thing we found for her is to use whatever shampoo you feel like but keep rotating it… and do the same rotation with conditioner.

If you use the same conditioner continuosly it doesn’t help your hair out that well. Some good conditioners for dry hair/brittle hair are like…
    Nutrigena
    Prell Hydra
    Herbal Essences

All those brands have ones that are for “Dry/damaged” hair. The big no-no is any of them that have “Pro-vitamins” or “protein enriched” The proteins when used on that dry of hair actually harm it so…

Anyways… hope your hair cooperates a bit more… and I hope this helps.

Did you know Prell is so alkaline that you can perm hair with it? It makes it “appear” soft but it really just keeps stripping the cuticle and in the long run it is very damaging. If you put Prell shampoo on some hair on a perm rod and then leave it over night and then take out the perm rod and put vinegar on it “to nuetralize the alkaline quality” that you will have permed hair!! Head and shoulders is the same way.

Yeah… that is why she won’t use the shampoo itself… I do cause I need it to kill the grease factor… and my hair is like 2″ long so… I don’t care how long it lasts…

The conditioner isn’t off on the pH though so…

  3. my hair falls out tons all year round..a lot when i brush it ( after showering or not ) or when i condition it..my hair isn’t dry or fried at all since i don’t use dyes much at all..but i think it’s just that i have super thin hair ( dunno if you do or not.. )

i know you eat healthy and you take lots of vitamins right? so it couldn’t be a vitamin deficiency..

    *shrugs*

hehe we’ll both be bald by next year ๐Ÿ™‚

      • I was using that stuff cos I loved having a minty fresh scalp. Then I noticed my hair was drying out. What works for me (and I lighten my hair and it’s now down the middle of my back) is Biolage conditioner daily in the shower, I put Sebastian potion number 9 on my hair before I go to work in the morning, and every couple of weeks I use that Cholesterol stuff to deep condition my hair. Also, if you can stand to wear ponytails sometimes, what I do is forgo shampooing every other day—and it isn’t as gross as it sounds. On the days I don’t wash it I still rinse it out and put conditioner on it. And on the days I don’t wash it, I usually wear it in a ponytail or a butterfly clip cos my hair isn’t as stylerific as normal. I know you didn’t ask for my opinion, but I thought I would share *shrug* . Sorry if I butted in.

        • you didn’t butt in – i’ve been wanting to hear what different people use on dry hair.

i actually don’t use shampoo. i wash my scalp with baby wash. perhaps i need shampoo to coat my hair a bit?

          • I wonder if I could get away with not shampooing at all…hmmm….

I don’t know the ingredients in baby wash—and I am sure it isn’t harsh—but maybe the detergents are too harsh for “damaged” (cos lightening does damage hair) hair? I use Biolage shampoo too. I hate spending money on stuff like that—but I try to be careful to only use a small amount. I don’t know if you need to “coat” your hair—that can be bad—make your hair lay too flat. COnditioners help smooth down your cuticle. Bleh—look at me acting like I know all about hair—just speaking from experience.

          • yeah.. I think stuff like baby wash is more for cleansing… like soap… I think it actually may be kinda harsh for damaged hair…

          • i use baby wash too..the head to toe kind by johnson & johnson’s…i can use it for everything and it’s cheap ๐Ÿ™‚ maybe i should get a shampoo of somekind too..there are just so many :b

          • I heard once that baby wash was harsh in order to prevent something called, “Cradle Cap.” But I’m not sure. I really like St. Ives strengthening conditioner (the pear and vitamin E one, it smells like pie!), it made my hair feel sooo much better. After I started using that was when my hair finally started feeling normal again. Since it has been feeling dry I’ve been thinking of trying one of those new super fix-it conditioning masks. St. Ives makes some and so does Revlon. I also used to put Cholesterol on my hair, hehe. I think you can just do what someone else said and put egg whites in your hair for a bit so long as you rinse with cold water to avoid a scambled head. ๐Ÿ˜‰

          • yeah… try using a shampoo thats specifically for dry, fragile hair…will probably coat and protect your hair better… I don’t know if the baby stuff will do the job right…

  4. I dont have that problem cause my hair is so oily..I can prettie much use whatever I want unless its for “dry” hair and then it makes my hair feel like a grease ball..ick..
