I second that. I always forget to check the wash.
Because on a washer there is this thing called the “spin cycle,” which if you have something fairly heavily in there like a pair of shoes or the load is just particularly heavy, the high rate of spin will make a lot of noise.
When you don’t hear the noise anymore, you know its done.. 😉
my hearing generally isn’t good enough to notice when it stops because i can’t hear it over my background music…
i’ve got a fisher and paykel machine that plays a little song when its done…. but my dryer doesn’t buzz when it’s done 🙁
Washing Machine email
I rigged my washing machine so it rings my door bell and sends an email alert when it is done. I’m planning on doing the same to my washer too.

are you serious? you should somehow post the results to the web, too. i think there is a house like that in iceland; all their appliances are on a webpage. they even have barcode scanners on the fridge and trashcan so you can see what they eat and throw away.
