stephanie is: happy happy…

i am happy cause danny is home and he is happy. he is in the kitchen making sammiches for dinner and singing “doot doo doo doot pl0p pl0p poot bork bork!”. bwahaha…

so the landscaping crew was back at 9am working on the patio. danny realized after lunch that he had never de-winterized the tap out there. i had the camera under the sink trying to figure it out with his help in chat…

he told me to go out and push a ring down and i did though i am scared of the non-english-speaking crew. when i got back is saw he added that i need to turn the faucet off out there too… doh! i went down to do it but they were already shoveling wet sand away from where the water came out. ack! i was too embarassed to go out there again, even though i had made them iced tea.

i set it down inside the door in the hope that i would regain some bravery later. and i did! i took a deep breath and brought it out and set it on the step. the foreman (who is the only one who knows any english) said thank you kinda and glared. i did not think they would drink any of the tea. i thought they hated me.

so they got alot done. they should only have one more day to go. danny got hom whe i was laying down with a headache and said the entire pitcher of tea was gone! and they didn’t just dump it… they glasses were dirty, heh.

i have to go feed the bean and myself now…

    • Re: workers!!!

she wasn’t afraid of who they were, just the fact that she didn’t know them (or what they could possibly be saying).. *strangers*

  2. I get nervous, too, when i have to interact with people who dont speak English- I think I might look stupid to them or they will laugh at me when I am gone.

  3. What language do they speak? Maybe they are afraid of you, more than you are of them.
I am sad. I speak different language, too, but does not mean I am bad man.
Many Americans feel this way because they are not exposed to different languages and cultures.
If you go live in Switzerland for little while, I think you would change mind.
There they speak Swiss, German, Italain, French and 2 other languages I don’t remember all in different cantons very close to each other, but they get along very well. Many Swiss speak all six languages very well. They have to. It is like going to DC from Winchester and being in different country. Well, ok, bad example. hehe.
