    • yea kinda… we haven’t really had clients lately. so at least i had my resume all ready. i just didn’t get a head start on frelance or searching like i had hoped.

  1. oh my goodness. it seems to be happening everywhere.

But it may not be such a bad thing. It may be the purrfect opportunity to freelance FROM HOME!!!

    You’ll be ok. *hugs*

    • yea… now i just need some freelance -clients-… i had hoped to have some time to build them up before leaving my job.

  2. =( I’m so sorry stefunnE. Oof. Are you going to be working at home on site hosting and things? I may have a site for you to host in the future. :/ *hugs hugs hugs*

  3. Holy fuck, girl…..

Remember this summer when it happened to me? Out of the clear blue? Man…. um, maybe we should start a company together.

    (hug)

    • I have been trying to get into your chat room all night to offer support but keep getting “no more connections” allowed errors from undernet. poop, say I.

/me wants to start a company

      • try some of the other undernet servers…

        arlington.va.us.undernet.org
        lasvegas.nv.us.undernet.org
        mclean.va.us.undernet.org

    • ::sighs::

  4. Those idiots. You are the best web graphic artist I have ever encountered, and I’m not just saying that to make you feel better. I’ve always thought your sites were some of the best designed on the net.

It’s their big stupid ill-advised loss. *hugs*

  5. Oh the pain and agony! Ouch. Hopefully you’ll pick up something quick. You might want to try consulting. It usually pays well, especially with someone of your talents and experience.

  6. *hugs*…things will work out and now you can have more time to start your freelancing and hosting :)…(I know its scary but sometimes it takes things like this to get you started)

Let us know if we can do anything…

    Take Care

    • yea, but i don’t know if it would be enough money for now… sending resumes out now to get a head start just in case there is no freelance out there right now.

  7. Im sorry to hear about that Steph…

While the market is getting tougher in this field there is still plenty of opportunity for people with real talent to secure good jobs… Fortunately, you are blessed with an intensely creative mind and the intellect to translate it to the web. Things will work out for you in the end, of this I’m certain!

    best of luck to you!

  8. *heart crushed*
    what the fuck?!?!

i feel so horrible for you! i’ve been laid off twice now, and a third time is impending, but every time i knew it was coming and not much of a surprise. for you, it’s yet another thing out of the blue on top of an uber-crappy week!! i hope you’ll be ok. times are hard right now for everyone, including jon and i, although in comparison to some people we are making out like bandits. you have my complete and utter sympathy and empathy. if you ever need a layoff-experienced shoulder to cry on, just email me.

  9. sorry to hear 🙁

it’s happening to a lot of people, too. maybe this *is* the perfect opportunity for you to start freelancing! sounds like you have plenty of possible clients to start with now… which most freelancers don’t have when they first get out there.

    good luck there steph…

  10. Geez

That’s a shocker! Sorry to hear it, hang in there. There does seem to be an awful lot of that “going around”, like corporate flu.

  11. STEPH!

awe shyte girli… I know you only marginally – if at all – recognize my handle here… but I have been a fan for soooooo long. and I’m remarkably sorry that you have harsh news…

You know – or should by now – that a layoff is EXCELLENT…. it’s better than being tortured at work when the work sucks… and it forces change down your throat. You are such a super smarty pants that there is just no way on earth that you will not land on your feet.

(this sounds silly but…) You go girl! You can do anything.

  12. what???? how could they!! you are so incredibly talented and they are really losing out by letting you go. i am really sorry to hear about this. 🙁

i know you’ll find something else, though – you have so much talent!

    *hugs*

  13. They lost a good worker….

I wish people here worked as good and with as much talent as you do punq… I am not saying this just to be friendly… You really are a great designer and have one of the best work ethics I have seen for a “e-company” person…

  14. I don’t know what to say… you’ve been like family to me as long as I’ve known you. I know I certainly don’t want to sit here in this office next to your empty desk.

    shit

  15. I didn’t really get laid off, but it hurt me quite a bit when I found out, so I know how you feel, at least in a little way.

    *hug*

  16. I’m so sorry

I know that I’m like the 41st person to say this but I really am sorry. I don’t want to be lame and tell you that everything will be ok when I have absolutely zero knowledge of the situation BUT: you have a wonderful husband who obviously loves you, incredible talent, and the fortitude to keep on keepin’ on. I’m sending you eHugs, best wishes, and strength your way. I hope that just knowing that we are all pulling for you will help you in some small way.

  17. Sorry to hear that…

…but such a great talent like you, should be able to find something new very soon, perhaps with more money in it. Or you try to work as a freelancer.
    (((((Stephanie)))))

  18. I hope not all companies around there are run by such idiots.
I’m sure things will work out fine for you, you are just TOO good.

  19. So sorry!!!!!
Goodness gracious, did you at least get any explanation?

I keep my fingers crossed for you!!!!

  20. lousy business decision

doesn’t make sense to let the talent. go that’s what customers paid for, the service the talent provides. it’s a never ending circle that can only end badly. almost like flushing the business down the toilet.

  21. What the…….

I’m so sorry to hear this. I can’t believe they let such a talented designer go.

Hopefully it will turn into an opportunity for you to do what you really wanted which is to freelance from home.

As soon as the budget approval comes through for the work we talked about (briefly) before I’ll let you know. I may also have 1 or 2 hosting jobs for you as well.

Personal note: If you need anything, let me know and I’ll do what I can.

Chaos – Where great dreams are born –
Before the beginning of great brilliance, there must be chaos.

  22. sorry…

I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been let go. I was let go about 3 years ago and it was the best thing ever! Although at the time I cried, got depressed, and was very angry. I figure if I hadn’t got laid off when I did, I wouldn’t be working my dream job that I have now!

    Best Wishes to you Steph!

  23. Been there…Done that…it still hurts and sucks a big one

Go to the unemployment office tommorow and start drawing against them. Iam sure someone with your talent and skills will find something. you will be in my prayers from here on out. The one thing that really sucks about something like this is my company expects us to give them 2 weeks to a month notice when were leaving them but the bastards can hit you at the last min of the last day with a layoff and NO NOTICE…I dont care what anyone says…thats just not right…
