stephanie is: kinda sad... kinda sad…

i am kinda sad. my daddy just called to say he is still having atrial fibrillations in his heart again. they have been bothering him for a couple weeks (on top of his parkinson’s). if he still is having them in the morning he has to go to the hospital for a few days while they ease him onto heart medication. he said it had stopped about ten minutes before he called me. i hope hope hope it doesn’t start up again. he doesn’t need any more of this. i cried a bit after i got off the phone cause i feel so helpless. my brother is out of town for a couple days and the weather forcast is calling for a big storm to start saturday night… i wonder if we’ll be able to go visit him in the hospital if he needs to be admitted? sigh. everyone send good healing vibes his way.

danny has been asleep fo a while upstairs. he usually naps on friday nights. i took bean for a walk when i got home. i told her she may have snow to run in soon and she was happy. i watched a cheesy junior high show on the disney channel, then sewed some pads i bought into my black triangle bikini top. hopefully i will look like a pre-teen girl now – instead of a pre-teen boy. i am still on the lookout for a tank style top though.

i guess i’ll do some site work since i don’t feel like doing anything else.

  1. I am sending best wishes to your Dad and to you too. I wish that there was something more that I could do. He is lucky to have a family that loves him so much supporting him and you are lucky to have someone to learn such great things from. I know sometimes how overwhelming life can be when faced with uncontrolable circumstances. Be strong. My Dad is sick right now too. I don’t think he has anything as encompassing as your Dad but he has several different things going on that are kind of scary. So I will send get well thoughts to yours if you send them to mine. I hate feeling like I can’t do enough to help him.

  2. In my prayers

I know how important daddies are and how frightening it is when there is something wrong with them. I hope everything goes well and he gets to feeling better real soon πŸ™‚ He will be in my prayers tonight.

  3. They can come and go — here’s hoping your Dad’s just go …

Best wishes to your Dad — I know that can be a scary thing to have happen. I had one 7-hour episode of a-fib about 2.5 years ago, and luckily it hasn’t recurred, but it definitely got my attention when it was happening. Things like this can come and go; I sometimes have episodes of PVCs (isolated extra beats) for a few days or weeks, and then none at all for 6 months or more. The a-fib only happened one time. So I’m at least one proof-point that it doesn’t necessarily just keep happening. I’ll cross my fingers that your Dad’s a-fib is short-lived. The best thing he can do is have a supportive doctor that takes it seriously.

  4. huggles steph

your daddy is going to be fine…I am sending huggles and prayers for him…my husband has the same problem…thats why he went to the hospital about 5 weeks ago…it scared me all to hell..but the doc said it can go away…if it doesn’t he needs to go on meds…and its not a huge deal…they can control it with medication…but it certainly is annoying and scary….does your dad consume caffeine…because dave …my hubbers…was drinking tons of pepsi…he isn’t a coffee drinker…and the heart specialist here said caffeine can be a huge factor in that…who knows…but I do know about the problem and your daddy is going to be fine…even if he has to go on meds….it will help him…it feels like your having a panic attack when your heart goes all zonky like that…huggles steph…he is going to be fine…its just scary and overwhelming…like my hubbers said…when they gave him the medication it turned it off like a tap…it was amazing :))

  5. I have a heart murmur myself (the clinical term is Mitral Valve Prolapse), so in having an extra 1/2 heartbeat, I can kind of relate with what your Dad is going through.

I’ve been told it’s nothing to be worried about, and if it does become a problem (through EKG results and such), then it’s easily corrected with minor surgery.

So it’s good to know it’s something the doc’s can fix.

Please give him my best wishes.
