stephanie is: hungries hungries!

iee i want lunch but it is only 11am. fooods! hehe. we didn’t go to the seminar since traffic made two of us an hour late.

oh questions for girrrls… does anyone have a favorite self-tanning cream? here is a new one. i’d like to give one a try WELL before my honeymoon so i’m not orange at my wedding. danny doesn’t think i should bother – that i would have color after a day on the beach. but i simply don’t tan. i freckle. i burn. it fades back to sickly white… hehe. so yea, any really good ones? i’ll pay for a good brand if it is highly recommended. i prefer tan-in-a-bottle to skin-cancer-on-me… and second question… where do you go for bikini waxing? is it super lame? i am guessing you can’t do it yourself… hehe.

thank you, drive through!

  1. i personally go to a local day spa for waxing. just remember to do it about a week a head of time so your skin can calm down afterwards. i normally get a massage or something nice while i’m there since waxing isn’t much fun. the spa i go to also offers self tanning treatments and i think it’s pretty common for spas to offer. basically you go in and they exfoliate you real good and then they massage the self tanning stuff on you all over. from what i’ve heard if you don’t mind the cost that’s the best way to go, much easier than trying to do it yourself and they normally use high quality stuff.

    hope that helps 🙂

  2. i like the neutrogena foam tanning stuff. it doesn’t give the orange affect for me. it also depends on the skin color of some people..so some may get a different color. i don’t pale skin tone so i don’t know how it will turn out for you.

for the waxing..call around to the hair/body salons..

  3. I try not to use any of the “regular store bought” self tanners because of the orange-colored tint many brands leave behind. Recently, tried the self-tanner by Bath & Bodyworks (at most major malls), and looked like a tangerine afterward.

The self-tanner made by Clarins looks really natural & my second choice would have to be the one made by Estee Lauder.

    Exfoliate, exfoliate!

  4. Tanning

The Neutrogene self tanner worked good on my skin and I’m about as pale as you are. Just make sure you prep your skin, exfoliate really good and use moisturizer all over a few days in advance. Nothing is worse than streaky tan.

  5. Actually I recommend that you don’t use a self-tanner. I think that with your hair color and delicate features you would look most lovely with fair skin.

Do you have bridesmaids? Maybe you and a couple friends could go to a spa a few days before the wedding to take care of the waxing, nails, etc.

    • i don’t have bridesmaids, or any close girl friends really. i look sickly white cause my skin a faintly speckled with freckles – not pretty ivory white. i look bad in white dresses and swim suits because of it… almost grey skinned…

      • Yeah, I can relate because my skin is almost pure white in color. Sort of freaky looking sometimes, but I’ve decided I really like it. It’s always funny in group photographs, though. My face is burnt out by the flash, but everyone else looks normal. 🙂

Too bad about a lack of close girlfriends. If you want to have a bachelorette party, or just a girls’ night out, feel free to drop me a note. We could round up some fun chickies around NoVa.

  6. I’m reeeeealy pale, and the Estee Lauder worked well for me. Very natural. I also don’t have tons of money, so I just bought Neutrogena because I’ve heard good things about it – haven’t tried it yet, though…

  7. personally i think you look cute as a button the way you are. Your complexion look like a freckler. (ie: a cute girl who freckles). I think you’d look 100 times more beautimus if you stay natural. A tan wouldn’t look natural on you, cuz you don’t tan. and personally i think pale with a few freckles looks yum. 🙂
    but that’s just meee.

  8. i’m very pale cause the sun kills my skin too..i tried neutrogena a long time ago but i remember it being reallie shitty..i decided i like being pale..heh 🙂 i just have to bathe in suntan lotion before going out places..

  9. Waxing

great little day spas for waxing and whatnot are SugarHouse in Old Town Alexandria and Elizabeth Arden in Tysons. There are others in the District and Bethesda, but no need to go that far. Check them out online for services and prices and bring a girlfriend with you. If no one wants to go with you, I will!!

  10. hehehe, bikini wax yourself – it’s cheaper and fun *8P
er, it hurts … but uhm …
    try your legs first …
uhm … maybe you should go to a pro *8/

    • hehehe! yup it does! my mom and i tried it a while back ourselves..although reallie it will hurt no matter who does it or how much it costs..it’s pouring hot wax onto your skin and ripping it right off! blech! :b i just stick to shaving now..heh..

      • hehehe, yea, I had a waxing party a while back … it was interesting and messy!
I heard you get numb to the waxing after a while though …

    • Re: No tan!

i prefer to be pale, but i also prefer to not be seen almost naked in bright sunlight where every blemish wrinkle fatmark bruise wart freckle stands out. you can see the veins in my legs and i look grey on the beach. i just want a lite healthy looking color so people don’t think i am drowning.

      • Re: No tan!

bahaha. I dont think anyone will try to give u CPR. try neutrogena light/medium. it works on me. I am ghost pale by choice- no laying out in the sun for four years. I am part italian so I can get tan- but I ended up getting moles also – and after a few biopsies to check for cancer i avoided the sun! pale is safest.

      • Re: No tan!

Beach bad! No beach! Beach sand bad! Beach water Bad! Beach sun bad! No beach!

But I suppose if you must, there’s plenty of good suggestions 🙂

  11. 🙂

oo thanks for posting this question… i was wondering myself where to look for such a thing, especially in a one-horse town like this. is it really that common of a service for salons and stuff to offer?

  12. Actually Step, Persis’ idea is a good one. Going to a Spa to get this stuff done is a good idea. I don’t know how much your want to spend, but they looked the best in my opinion. Plus you get a massage. 🙂

  13. Tanning

I got married last June and decided not to tan, as I’m the same as you when it comes to tanning: I don’t.

My wedding pictures came out beautiful and I’ve had lots of people tell me that not tanning was a good decision as I’m fair skinned and would have ended up looking strange had I done a tan in a bottle or those creepy tanning beds.

However, if you need a good brand name for self tanning cream, try Estee Lauder. I’ve heard and seen only good things from them!

  14. self-tanning

Origins works the best for me – and I have tried a LOT of different kinds 🙂 My grandfather died of skin cancer, so I am super careful about the sun, and am normally extremely pale. Origins is a bit more on the expensive side, but it is very natural looking and doesn’t streak.

  15. dont tan!!

i dont think that as cute as you are, that anyone will notice any blemishes…a pretty smile hides more than you think. But, if you must try the tan in a bottle, my girlfriend always uses skin lotion at the same time to aviod the streaks. thanks for letting me share.
