stephanie is: groggy groggy…

aaaah finally! i have been trying to connect to ANYTHING for a few hours. my dialup is being a whore.

today was a slow day. my dad stopped by and i gave him his gifties and a big pile of cookies. i gave him a borders giftcard and a framed picture (on of me taken last spring that i remebered he liked). i have been doing lots of work on my site. boring tedious work to upgrade the galleries. and what makes it even harder is that i can’t ftp to the www server right now (because of how the internal network is) – so i have to ftp it to another server and use unix ftp comands to get the files where they need to be. i guess it is good that i am learning something new in unix, but i keep forgetting i have to upload each file in two places in order for things to change. doh!

danny and i went out on a mission tonight to find a restaurant that is actually open on christmas night at 8pm. we found exactly one – some diner in herndon. i ordered breakfast food so that i could get some protein from the scrambled eggs. but they were super running when i got them (i HAVE to have them cooked all the way through or i feel like i am going to gag swallowing them – i really don’t like eggs much), so i managed to eat half of them by eating each bite with a bit of potato. my waffle was cold so the butter wouldn’t melt at all. it was like eating a big buttered cracker… bleh. but they had a big big menu and they are open 24/7. maybe their food is less lame when they aren’t so packed. i don’t think i’ll get their eggs again though…

danny is over at our neighbor’s house watching “the patriot” with them. i have zero intrest in seeing that so i staying here doing work. i showered while my slow dialup was trying in vain to check my mail. it seems everything is finally waking up. ima go to bed now. sorry for the typos but i don’t feel like proofreading this entry.

  1. pictures of oneself is the best thing anyone can give a parent. my birthday gift tonight was that of a mirage of my kids that my sister inlaw had taken. it’s so them! i love it 🙂

  2. Rsync

I went to an Indian restaurant for dinner on Christmas Eve. I guess Hindus aren’t big on that whole Christmas thing.

If you are ftping files to a unix server and then to another unix server you might try using rsync to avoid having to upload them twice. With rsync, you could ftp them once to the first server and then let rsync run in cron and sync them up with the second server.

I saw The Patriot, It wasn’t really horrible per se, but taken as a whole the film itself is a bit laughable.

  3. Christmas Diner

It sounds to me like you went to a certain period themed diner in Herndon. I haven’t been to that one in a while but if memory serves me correctly it is not that good even if everything is optimal. I go to the one near me in Springfield every once in a while and it is a little better. I do not eat eggs unless they are completely unrecognizable as eggs. Like in a cake or something. My roomates gave me a real hard time when I drank some store bought eggnog the other day. I told them that it didn’t seem like eggs to me. I don’t think that counts somehow. Anyway, I thought of you the other day when I was watching Power Puff Girls and they made their fourth sister Bunny. What a great episode. Even though it was sad when she “sploded”. I hope you got to see it. I hope you guys had a Merry Christmas! And here is to a healthy and prosperous New Year!

if you mean silver diner – no. they were closed. we went to one that wasn’t 50’s inside, but it still had a diner menu and hours…

  4. Amphora

The diner you went to was called Amphora. The original one is in Vienna (Virginia) – that’s where they make all those yummy looking sweet meats you see on display.
