stephanie is: very very sneezy very very sneezy…

ugh, i had a bit of a relapse cold-wise. i have been working all week so my body can’t fight it very well. luckily i on;y have one day to go bfore the weekend. i have never sneezed so much in one day as i have today! my allergies don’t even make me sneeze usually.

i had a busy day. i worked from home so i started working at 7:30am. some of the stuff i was doing went a bit slow cause i had to do it via my work computer because i hadn’t installed some software at home yet. after lunch danny and i had to go to a pre drywall inspection at the house. we went over all the features we had chosen to make sure everything was coming along right. both of the supers were there answering our questions. everthing was right, so drywall starts going up tomorrow. they did our front step while we were there. by the time we go there on sunday, we will also have a driveway and back steps (we got the least expensive elevation – an “english basement” where you walk up some steps along a wall to get to the backyard. at least we have a back yard!).

my other big thing of the day – i got a second bunny. hehe, no heart attacks please! this is something that i have researched. poor bunny has been depressed and more agressive than she needs to be sometimes. it turns out bunnies are very social animals and get lonely without a bonded companion (sort of like a mate, but it doesn’t have to be boy/girl). i got a book and read up on it all. the introduction is a very difficult process that takes up to 5 weeks. i wanted to get it all started since i am ordering a big new hutch on a wooden stand for the new house in about that time and want them to be together in it. so i adopted an adorable fuzzy white half-lop (one ear up one ear down). we are long-time customers at this one pet store, so i was about to get a guinnea pig cage from a package they were selling since i only needed a cage big enough for a 2 month old bunny to live in for a few weeks. it is a perfect fit. i think the bunny is a boy, but i will find out when i go to the vet. i had their first introduction tonight. i brought their cages out to the square of tile we have inside our front door, and set up a blockade. i let them both out and had the water bottle ready to stop short any rumbles. it went a thousand times better than i expected. the baby is a sweetheart – already grooming and cuddling bun. bun could deal with the baby unless they were face to face. then she’d grunt and lunge a bit. that is a great start! they are about a week ahead of schedule already. i just want bunny to be happy. bunnies in bonded pairs often live longer happier lives at very minimal extra effort on the part of the owner…

  1. bunnies

    Hey steph,

I have a cat that lives with me in my room.

I’m thinking about getting a bunny, but I have a couple of questions for you:

    1. How worth it is having a bunny? Are they cuddly like a cat, and can you hold them without them freaking out or anything?

    2. Do they get along with cats well? Or do the cats bug them a lot?

    I wanna bunny.

  2. Ohhhhh I am getting a bunny for my birthday…. hmmm maybe I should get two who are used to living together? bunny bunny bunny… I am SOOOOOO excited!!!!

p.s. have you gotten my package yet? :>

  3. ooooo that is sooo sweet! there so cute too! i haven’t held a bunny since i got bit by one years ago and it bit my jacke to. it was a mean bunny i think!

    • bunnies aren’t very big on being held – it reminds them of when a preditor has them and is taking them off to be dinner… they prefer to come over to you and snuggle beside you. the baby bunny loves sitting with it’s nose pressed up to mine.. 🙂

  4. brown bunny

the brown bunny looks like a huge dog, whoa, i dont think ive seen a bunny that big
my brother used to have a bunny, and it kept pooping and peeing all over my moms house so she made him get rid of it

  5. Awwwwwww!

Granted, my last experience with bunnies was at a friend’s house, and said bunny was dirty, hyper, ran all over the carpet, and pissed while he was running.

But that’s STILL a cute picture!

That is an awfully large brown bunny, but then I guess bunnies get really large? I don’t know why I always think bunnies should be smaller than they are …

heheh and i have a dwarf bunny! she is full grown now and the size of a small cat. larger bunnoes are the size of small dogs!

thats awful that there are so many people out there with bunnies that don’t read up on them and just get rid of them cause they pee on the carpet. if they would just read about them theyd see that baby bunnies up to as much as a year old are very tough to potty train. that is just the way it is. so they need to be supervised when having play time outside the hutch. they really become potty trained on their own because they like to be. my older bunny chose one corner of her cage after about 6 months of pooing wherever she was standing in there. now she hops back into the cage when she needs to go.

don’t let those bad bunny moms turn you off on them – bunnies are great pets! they are just like human babies in that they need to do a little growing up before it is easy to littler train them…

  6. bunny feelings

awwwww hey steph I think you will be such an awesome mom. You are so patient with your pets even when they chew up your computer cords and do naughty pet things 🙂 I thought it was cute what you wrote:”i just want bunny to be happy.”
Most people couldn’t care less about their bunny’s emotions. You rule 🙂
