stephanie is: smart smart!

i feel smart… i am working on a big flash project and it is helping me double my flash skills. woot!

danny found out he has a 5:35pm flight from dulles. he specifically requested national. dumb-asses. he is leaving the house at 4pm. i’d have to leave work at 3pm in order to see him for 5 minutes, so i can’t 🙁 i will see him friday night and i won’t let go the whole weekend!

so, i’ve decided to actually go out dancing tonight. nation is back on thursday nights again, and since there is a vnv nation show at a competeing club, it will be pretty dead and smoke-free there. sucks for the club, but good for me. i am on list, got a ride that wants to leave at 12:30 too, and i have a few bodyguards ready… hehe. i need the excersize of just dancing for a few hours. it’s been a long time. since i actually got nearly 8 hours of sleep last night, i’ll prolly be awake.

rob and i are going to get pancakes from the silver diner soon. mmm pancakes :9

  1. Surprised you aren’t going to the VNV show. They were incredible here a couple weeks ago with Apoptygma. Of course, I have heard that they last-minute cancelled a couple shows since then because the clubs didn’t meet up to their sound requirements.
    Anyway… have fun =]

  2. adam should let the torch go to someone else……

Do you think it’s good that thursday’s are back at Nation? I thought the nocturnia event at the Cage was much more real. I’m not a long-time dc resident, but i’ve heard tapes of what Adam used to spin, and it was so much more varied, and so much better, than what he plays now. The last 3 times i went to nation thursdays he was also out of control drunk and obnoxious. Kind of embarassingly so. He’s been doing this forever…. i mean he’s over 30. Maybe it should stay dead rather than going head to head with an event that has turned out to be pretty cool?

Come check it out some time…

Remember, Adam’s not the only one who spins there.

I’ve done a pretty good job of mixing things up in the past. There were a lot of things about the first week of Nation that i was very pleased with in the sets. First off, There was a LOT less repitition… Oh, sure, there was some stuff that you’ve heard a lot in the past. But a good portion of that was trimmed down and I think the only band that got played excessively (a problem oft complained about in the past) was VNV nation (and that was all the doing of ONE dj, unfortunately). But I think even that’s looking to be well nipped in the butt.
Even still, there’s always a good amount of newer music being spun there. As well as plenty of stuff that’s a: not tired out and b: not played anywhere else…

I think Thursday nights being back at Nation are only going to get better and better…

Come out. If you don’t like it, don’t come back…
But at least don’t look negatively on it till you’ve at least come checked it out.

(p.s. You know, if you want to discuss age… DJs at the cage are in the same age bracket as Adam, so that’s really NOT a good point to focus on…)

    Speaking of music …

My boyfriend’s brother has a band in the D.C. area … they’re called Crawling Home. Stephanie, I don’t know if you’re just into dancing or if you like going to random shows too, but if you do, I hear they’re supposed to be pretty good. At the very least, I know they have a kick ass drummer! 🙂 Their next gig is at Zigs Bar & Grill on Duke St. in Alexandria. I’d be interested to know if any of you guys in the D.C. area have ever heard them or heard of them.

    Emily
