stephanie is: thinking thinking…

yesterday my dad found out he has a closed angle or narrow angle glaucoma in his right eye. they need to poke a hole in it to bring the pressure back to normal. my aunt (his sister) has glaucoma too… is this hereditary? i get my glaucoma tests regularly like a good monkey.

  1. Gluacoma *is* hereditary. So make sure you keep getting the tests done! Here in the UK, anyone with a family history of Glaucoma automatically gets free sight tests…do they do that there too?

  2. Something else you might want to check out …

Gee … this must be “Brendan recommends a product” day …

Anyway, here’s a great supplement for “eye health” (don’t you just love the FDA not letting natural products be discussed as treating specific health conditions?) …

Again, click on the bottle or HERE for product info and HERE for the rest of the stuff!

  3. By the way …

I get my eyes tested annually for glaucoma too … according to my eye doctor, everybody with blue eyes (or grey or light green), should be checked for this annually. Supposedly the lighter pigments “flake off” and can plug up the ducts which drain the eye, causing the pressure to increase, which then causes the damage. He tells me that if they catch it early, they can deal with it (drops? pills?) easily, but once the damage is done, it’s a problem.

Eek! Scaree! I have light green eyes.. I get my eyes checked pretty often since the snazzy disorder I have can mess them up (they’re fine right now, thankfully). There is also a strange eye disorder that runs in my family, can’t remember the name right now. Eek, maybe I should get then checked again. I don’t know if I trust the docs at lens crafters.. hehe.

Ste-funnie! *hugsss* Can we send your daddy presents? hee hee
