i am starting to publicly change my site over. there will be some things that need tweeking, but i will find them. i still have a lot ot do. it seems that i am now a good target for flames. (see here) maybe i will have a little thicker skin after all of this. i know for a fact that the hall of shame will double in size soon. i just need to stand up for myself. people were all super nice when i was just talking about it. now the mean people are starting to come out of hiding. how are people so offened by my site going pay?? if i wrote a book, would they expect me to hand it out for free at every bookstore? i’m sorry that i am not a millionare. in the next couple weeks i am going to become a quarter of a million dollars in debt. i don’t think it is so awful to be asking for a little help supporting the $400/month website i give to you for free. argghh! why are people so mean?? i don’t understand! being mean to me is not going to change anything! it is not going to make me rich! what do you people want from me??? i am sorry. i just woke up from a crappy nap and my medicine is still making me feel weird. i will shut up now. |

Don’t even listen to that crap. I think you should make the cam part a paysite, especially when it costs that much to run. I have been considering getting a cam, but have been scared because of all the problems I’ve heard you, spooky and neko talk about. I am still thinking about it, but I don’t know how I would pay the kind of bills you’ve been paying. I only want it for friends anyway. Good luck with it, and with the house, and know that you definately have support!!

woah grrl! u need to calm yourself down! people will have their opinions…hell, all cam girl sites are going pay now, people are just pissed cause what started as a personal experiment of a window into someone’s life turned into something that required funds in order to survive. but, it’s a necessary evil for you. You have to handle your shit before you think of other people’s needs, otherwise your site will die and the people who look at your site will no longer be able to look at it. The people who don’t understand that are the people who need to come over to my house and get a nice boot up the ass. Although some of them prolly would like that…
Seriously though–look at jennicam…sure, she started it all, but come on…look at her site…2 minute refresh for members???? $15 a month to look at a blue chair? Lame design concept (i prolly shouldn’t talk about design tho)???? ACK!!! People like you should be charging hundreds!

Don’t worry about those people. It is your site and if I were you and I was buying a new home I know with out a doubt that I would have to find a way to pay the $400/month cost of running a website (if I had one that is). I commend you on doing this because you have already explained the reason why, and besides you have been bearing the costs for a long time now while working your butt off trying to make others happy. I’m praying you get your home with no trouble and I definitely am excited about your upcoming marriage to Dan. I wish nothing but the best for you in the future.
Don’t worry Stephanie. There are some people that expect EVERYTHING for free. Maybe he thinks you are going completely pay. I am sure you will still have a guest portion of the site for those that do not wish/too broke to pay for a membership. So, if he doesn’t like the slower refresh and it doesn’t come out of his pocket to pay the bills and he is not willing to join the members section then it is HIS problem. That is like the people that want television without commercials, or PBS to not have fund drives, yet complain if they have to pay for showtime or HBO. Why should it be any different than you having a members section. Now, there are sites that are cluttered and ugly from tons of banners. I personally hate banners all over a site and it detracts from the esthetics of a site. If He wants to send you a check for $5K to support the site over the next year then you won’t have to have a members section for one more year. That is reality and don’t let it bother you. If he doesn’t like that you have a members section, you can always put a link on your site for those that complain to go to http://www.tightwadliving.com or freebies, or cheapscates or any of those get stuff for free site. If he is complaining about it over just your site, I would hate to see what he would do when the landloard comes knocking on his door for his rent check.

In the message I posted in the forum (the world is changing) I expressed my concerns about people like this scum sucking little weasel. But I am very happy to see you put him in his place, I have no doubt you will keep people like that away from your site. I support you, everyone supports you. you have done an incredible job maintaining this site and with the amount of work, hours, and money put into it you deserve to get some compensation for it all…you have to do what you have to do to survive…i think you are doing the right thing by switching to pay, and i will continue to support your decision…i do hope that you will have a guest section, though…
