the meeting was okay i guess
. i don’t really know much about the outcome yet. we pretty much went over forms and info and stuff, and he will be talking with someone tomorrow. he said i have good credit but not enough of it. i have had one credit card since i was 17. why would i need another? i only spend money i already have so one credit card covers it – cause i am not rich. but he says i need to get 3 more. yipes. i hate credit cards, they make me nervous. but i will have to get a gas card and some store cards – use them at least once, and then pay it off right away. but that means i will have to spend some money when i am trying to save. meanie peoples who make the credit rules. the guy kinda creeped me out. he kept licking his finger – like you do before turning a page – but he would justdo i between sentences. ick!
we went to the grocery store afterwards and actually were able to buy a lot of food instead of a cart full of non-edible items. we cooked dinner when everything was put away. i ate my very first gardenburger. it was weird, but okay food. it kinda didn’t like all the nuts in it. i was able to eat about a third of it but i am not used to such heavy meat-like food. we got some paseries so i can eat breakfast again. yum!
oo! i got two late gifties today! thank you to jon for the nude yoga (bwahaha!) and thank you thank you wol for the princess bride!
if you have any ideas or requests for my upcoming member’s section let me know! i am going to work on some mood icons for livejournal so you all can be silly like me.
I’d get a second opinion on those credit cards.
They won’t affect your credit report for quite awhile. having something like AE and a regular credit card makes sense, but not a total of four. I always recommended customers borrow 1-2 thousand dollars for a major purchase (washer/dryer, computer, refrig, furniture, ect…) but make sure they set aside that amount in a savings account as collateral. This type of credit history seemed to influence the bankers I worked with more. Though, again it usually required about six months to influence anything. A banker telling you to go get 3 more credit cards just sounds weird to me.
Re: I’d get a second opinion on those credit cards.
I agree with Muttly. What this guy is trying to get you to do is increase your credit score, which is odd for a loan officer to do. MOST loan officers will tell you just the oppositte.. no new credit cards..
Get a second opinion. (and there are other, better, ways to build credit score, with much less interest if that is really what you need to do) If you really need to increase your credit score, take a personal loan out at the bank, even a fairly small one. Stick the money you get into a savings account (note, if its unsecured, you don’t need to spend it). Make one payment on this loan (even using money from the savings if you wish) and then the second pay it off. This does wonders for your credit score, and yet, you never spent any money, aside from a wee bit of interest. Make sure the bank reports to credit bureaus though.. or it won’t have helped you.

hmmm
that DOES seem very weird. doesn’t seem like an intelligent guy to me…with past rental history (hopefully making your payments on time), a car (as long as you didn’t recieve it as a gift), perhaps a student loan that was responsibly paid off, being at the same job for quite some time, having a website operate for quite some time with a reliable fan base which isn’t necessarily on your credit report but proves your dedication to a task, etc….you should have excellent credit…however he was right about the one credit card thing, being loyal to one credit card seems like a good idea but it’s better to have more than one…i like muttly’s opinion on the whole matter, that’s actually the best way to increase your credit. However, he’s right–it won’t show up for quite some time…life really sucks when you’re under 40 and trying to make something for yourself, doesn’t it?
luv

You’re welcome!
You’re welcome! I thought the Nude Yoga sounded pretty funny 🙂
They’re nuts in a gardenburger? Whyfor would they put nuts in something like that? I thought veggie burgers were the exclusive domain of beans and soy products. On a side note, I REALLY miss the soy burgers we had in high school…. Mmmmmmmmmm. I don’t really care whether something has meat in it or not, I just care how it TASTES. That also applies to steak. I couldn’t care less about the texture of the meat (cut it with a butter knife, firm, or tough as shoe leather) as long as it tastes good.
I really need to get back in the habit of eating breakfast (after a 10-year lapse)… I spent almost two months last year only eating waffles, bacon, eggs, sage sausage (sage rocks!) and/or homemade quiche for dinner. Why? ‘Cause it tasted DAMN good and I missed it! 🙂 Hmmm, I know what I’m getting when I go by the grocery store tomorrow 🙂
On the topic of the member’s section: I’ll definitely join. I think I’m up to speed on basic (very basic) HTML, but could use a refresher on more advanced stuff if possible. Once I’ve got a decent amount of free time, I’ll be trying to get into CGI. I’m sort of responsible for our lab at work (a bigass, ugly, green and brown telephone switch; “sort of” as in, no one else takes care of the lab), so I’d like to develop some useful CGI scripts to enable people to figure out what we have in the lab and where it’s physically located (i.e. row x, frame y, shelf z, slot a). Yeah, like I really want people switching cards around and not putting them back… grrrrr. I really do feel responsible for the lab; it’s my baby, no matter how butt-ugly it happens to be!
Oh yeah, back on topic: credit. I’m actually kinda scared to get a copy of my credit report 🙂 I agree with muttly and atarikat on this one, it seems a bit odd that someone was advising you to get more credit cards when they’re not going to have any major effect for several months.
eww, credit reports
I hate having meetings about credit things! eww, I feel for you steph-funee! I have good credit but we missed -one- payment on my car (it was lost in the mail when we moved to seattle) so it isn’t perfect. I hope everything works out! *hugs*
Hmm, I love gardenburgers but I seem to remember them being full of cheese and mushrooms.. two things I know you don’t eat. Did you get the veggie kind? Those are less meaty too.. hehe. I never eat them like a burger.. I, um, toast them like a pop tart. 😉
Gardenburger Pop Tarts?
and jam straight from the jar…
You really are an odd little monkey.
hehe
Agree with everything said .. sounds like you talked with a “loan originator” at one of those mortgage company. They sell your mortgage to other investment groups so they have such stupid rules. Try talking to your local banker .. some of them do the same thing but I think the advice would be better … and the guy wouldn’t suck his finger… eeiiiooouuu
the thing is, if we get this morgage, we save $5000 on closing costs because they are recommended by the home builder…
Gardenburgers, Nude Yoga, etc.
I would be so stressed out by now by the whole buying a house process (but I am looking at that in a few years! – still saving money). I hope it goes well for you both.
David and I both love GardenBurgers (there are many flavors to pick from). Perhaps you picked a flavor that had nuts in it. There are other flavors without nuts. They are all good! Plus there are other brands too – Boca Burgers and Harvest Burgers – both are good.
My boyfriend bought Nude Yoga for me as a gift last year – it is very nice. I think he has tried it – but he denies it. . .
