Apparently, I’m mentioned in a textbook. I’d never have expected that! It seems that the book “Acting Out Culture” includes the essay “Watch Me! Webcams and the Public Exposure of Private Lives” by Brooke A. Knight. I’d seen the essay, but not heard of it being in a book. A new member mentioned it’s name in how she heard of my site.
Yes, the heyday of the “webcam girl” may be past, but it brings a nostalgic smile to my face to see it captured for posterity.
i’ve thought more than a few times over the last few years to re-launch cykakam, the global edition, especially now that i’ve got a built in webcam in my macbook. then i think about how much effort it took all the time and i prefer to just keep the happy nostalgic memories of it and just leave it at that.
