So, this is what we’ve done two weekends in a row. Paint, paint, paint, paint.
The HOA requires that our fence is white (though I like it that way anyway). The quote we got for painting was nearly what the fence cost to have built. Thousands. *cough* Yeah, we’re painting it ourselves. At least the outside of it.
We don’t really want to spend the next 20 weekends painting, so we may have someone do the inside for us. A neighbor gave us a recommendation that should be much cheaper. And, we’ll have done half the work already. It is so tedious. I understand why they charge a lot.
It looks good, though, doesn’t it?
I started decorating the front of the house for Halloween this evening, but I ran out of both light and tombstones. I’m hoping our friend Ivan can pick up a few more for me with his swanky store discount (though they are only $3 – $5 there). I’ll have repeats, but at least my cemetery will be complete. I need to put up more cobwebs and figure out what lighting to get. Purple lights will be fun.
Later in the month I’ll work on the decorations for inside the house (since we are hosting a party.) We’ll also go get pumpkins. I want to do several spooky faces for the stairs and cemetery. I am carving fancier designs into two fake pumpkins that I can reuse.
Who’s making dinner tonight?
You should have rented or purchased a paint sprayer. I had to paint lots of fence one summer. It saved me hours and lots of free time saved. I would bring a small tarp, for the outside of the fence on the ground, and let the grass get just long enough when it’s cut the white would be cut out.
It looks real nice too.
We actually own a small paint sprayer, but Danny is very anti-spraying when it comes to the fence… So it’s paint brushes for us.

haha oh okay, i was gonna comment that that was pretty weird since my golden and my best friend’s golden both had black spots on their tongues like that 😛
aren’t all golden puppies jackasses? i know my 6 month old one sure is!! 🙂
Yes! They are all gigantic jerks!! But, it is worth it because they mature into the best dogs ever. I am just right in the worst of his “teenage years” here at 9 months. Ugh!

the golden that is really mine is 3 years old now, but he’s gone back to the breeder that we co-own him with temporarily for showing and breeding. she gave us one of his puppies at 4 months old as sort of a “loaner” while she had our dog. this pup is getting to be quite a handful now! i miss my well-behaved 3 year old 🙂
The fence looks awesome! I am sorry we couldn’t help our weekend was craziness.
I am so excited about decorating. I hate that I am out of town at the moment, but I can’t wait to get back home and start on the outside of the house!
Hey-almost every halloween party I have been to has a Pumpkin carving contest…so you don’t have to carve a bunch of pumpkins-have your guests bring them and put them around the house…just an idea! 🙂
