I’ve been super duper busy!

You may or may not know that I work in a doggy daycare as their graphic and web designer. You may or may not know that I started out in the doggy daycare with the dogs back in 2003. I still help out, and I’m fully trained to cover just about position (besides giving haircuts in the salon). Generally, I only help out when there are meetings that daycare staff need to attend, the lobby gets crazy, or we are short staffed. I’m not supposed to do more than that because it takes me away from my “real” job. But, of course, we have to keep the daycare running, because that is what makes our money. I enjoy filling in because I miss it – though I am very happy to have moved on and up.

Well, now it is back to school time. And, many of our employees are college students. So last week we lost a bunch who left to head back to school. The daycare is very busy with all of the vacations people are taking (thus boarding their dogs with us) and the hot weather (giving them a cool place to run around all day). And so I’ve been covering shifts.

Today I covered a morning daycare shift in the playrooms. I can’t believe I used to wake up at 5 am every day. Early… *grog* It was fun to be back, but I’m not used to the early hours at all. I got to spend time with 5 of my most-loved dogs today! I met a sweet pit named Bella who reminded me so much of Lucy. I got my back scrached by Ranger, a 90 lb dog who loves me a little too much (his idea of a ‘hello hug’ is a little painful!)… I got quite dirty from all the hugs I got from dogs I don’t usually get to spend a lot of time with anymore. I think my favorite moment of the day was when the entire Gym burst into “song” (howling) for a good two minutes. Music to my ears! It never fails to make me smile…

Tomorrow and Friday I will be running the afternoon/evening shifts (which means management and customer service). Next week, the general manager will be leaving for a two week vacation. With us being so short staffed, that means my daycare time has only just begun… I have the schedule for next week now, and I’ll be running a shift every weekday. Monday – Wednesday will be morning shifts and the rest will be evening. Oy. I have so much to do for my normal job, but it has to wait.

No one will judge you by your skin color. Gray or tan. Fawn or brindle. We all get along!
