*cough*

Remember me? When I last wrote, I was sick. I’m still sick! Ugh… I must have said ‘I rarely get sick anymore’ one time too many, because my cold karma has really sucked. this cold has lasted 2.5 weeks! It is finally ending though. I did a week of antibiotics which allowed me to come to work during it without getting anyone sick. But I’ve gone through 7 boxes of tissues and have slept miserably since it started. I can’t wait to feel healthy again!

OMG it is almost my birthday. You have a week to get your presents in the mail, people! Hah. I am not ready to be “old”, but I don’t look or feel old, so I guess it is okay. Danny and I are trying to plan something to do. We were leaning towards going to Chincoteague for the weekend, but the long-term forecast is calling for it to be gross and rainy (like it always is if we go to the beach on my birthday). I am getting frustrated trying to find something enjoyable to do for my birthday. Our friend, Laura, is lined up tohouse-sit for us that Thursday night through that Sunday. But, where to go? I am about ready to just grab a cheap flight to Cali and show up on someone’s doorstep! At least then we’d have nice weather!

We didn’t do much this weekend. I tried to rest a lot and that seemed to help finally get my cold into the final coughing-it-up stage. My friend/officemate had her baby, so we paid a quick visit to them in the hospital on Monday.

Monday night I got a wild hair up my ass to take out all of my braids and give myself a thorough scalp-washing. I felt so bald! I was thinking I might be able to last a few days without the braids so I could get my hair trimmed, but it was too much of a shock to my system. I started putting them back in the next morning. It felt good to get all of the dead skin off my scalp that had been trapped since I got a little sunburnt. I have most of my braids already back in, but I am not happy with them. I noticed part-way though that I wasn’t doing as many this time, but I decided to go with it since less braids are cooler in the hot summer weather. But this morning I don’t like how it looks. Too much scalp showing. I feel kinda bald and I’ll get sunburnt too easily. If I continue as I am going, I will end up with 40 on each side instead of my normal 60. So I am going to split a few up so that I end up with at least 50 on each side. Fun times! But still, I think I am setting a speed record on my rebraiding this time, because of the 5 hours I spent taking them all out. It gets you motivated to put them back in so you don’t look like a half-braided “ass clown” (Danny’s term).

I have a dentist appointment this afternoon She better not tell me my two weeks of sucking on throat lozenges gave me cavities.

Uh… that is all.

  1. a) You would never be forgotten

    b) Take a trip out to western Virginia along the Shenendoah Parkway and visit some caverns … nice and cool and a beautiful part of the country

    c) Happy Birthday to be!

    • a) Pfft!

      b) That was on my list of possibilities… But we really want beach! Unfortunately, it looks like the weather will be crap on the east coast that weekend. 🙁

      c) Thank you to be!

  2. whenever i FIRST feel a cold coming on, i take:
    (1) echinacea pill
    (1) tasteless/odorless garlic pill
    (1) 500mg Vitamin C tablet

    twice a day.

i swear, i haven’t had a cold in about year — and i used to be in my M.D.’s office every 2 months with sinus infections.

one of the doctors i used to work with told me that method several years ago. i wish i had listened sooner. it’s worth a try.

    • I took extra vitamin C, but normally I don’t even start to catch a cold… I am not too good at swallowing big pills. At least the C is chewable…

  3. I sure do miss the days…

before your dogs ate your hair and you didn’t wear braids. I loved your long blonde hair! I hope you have good luck at the dentist. And a early Happy Happy Birthday too!

I hate hate hate my hair. It is baby fine and soooo thin that all of it together is about a centimeter in diameter. I can’t even wear a ponytail without the braids in – the rubber bands would fall right out.

I always managed to make it look okay in pictures, but in person it was thin and stringy.

One day I’ll pause the braids and see if I can deal with my real hair again. I’d have to cut it short though – there are too many different layers right now from the 5 years of growing out the broken hair on top.

I SWEAR I wasn’t trying to be mean by saying that Stephanie! Your still a hottie in my eyes and you always will be…:o)

  4. How funny! A friend of mine and his family went with my family and me to Chincoteague this past weekend, and he put his dog in your new Maryland location. ::cue Twilight Zone music::

If you go, take the most offensive bug spray you can find. Coppertone “Bug & Sun” over-sprayed with “Back Woods Off” wasn’t enough to keep me from coming home looking like I have chicken-pox. (They itch about as much as chicken pox do, too.)
