Ugh.

I am not feeling well at all. If you want to see an icky picture, go here

Basically, I’ve had an allergic rash since Friday that has been spreading over my entire body. It started on my shoulders/back and got my upper arms and lower legs this weekend. Today it got my arms and belly, and this evening it hit my face. The RN I saw this afternoon said it was an allergic reaction to something and prescribed Claritin and anti-itch cream. I kept telling her it doesn’t itch! I want something to make it go away!! And something to take away the dizzy, flu-like, tingling feeling that is getting worse. She said it could take up to two weeks to clear, but I should go back to the Dr.’s office if it is still here in a week. Ugh.

Oh, and of course I have terrible girlie cramps/nausea tonight. Because the allergic reaction wasn’t enough.

Last night I got a lot of my Roller Girl photos processed… I am taking the time to decide which look good in full color (with the bright red contrasting the black and white) and which look better in grayscale (so the simplicity of the black and white lets the lines of the photo speak for themselves).

I may get the set up tomorrow night, but I am planning to stay home and rest tomorrow, so it may be Wednesday that I get the set up. It will be worth the wait, I think! Kollin did some great work!!

  1. Gah! Strange rash from nowhere. Good thing it doesn’t itch, those look like they’re already breaking the skin.

    Hope that stuff helps.

    • No broken skin, just tiny bumps. The ones on my legs have bruised red/purple, though. I ttook another cell photo of what most pf the rash looks like – pink-to-flesh-colored bumps.

  2. Ummmmm…have you ever had Chicken Pox? Fast spreading pots, dizzy flu-like symptoms — the armchair physician in me would put money on the ol’ Pox.

    • Not chicken pox. I’ve had them and the dr was emphatic that it looked allergic. Now that my girlie stuff has started for the month, the dizzy and achy is prolly from that. No fever at all and no itching.

      • Good thing for the “no itching” part. It looks like you would be miserable if they did!

Best wishes for a quick recovery!

  3. That rash looks almost like Chicken Pox, but I’m sure the doc ruled that out all ready. I’m suprised it doesn’t itch. Thank God for small favors huh?

The Roller Girl shot is hot. Very hot. I like the black and white effect. I think it makes it pop more than it would in color.

  4. just because i’m all inundated with data about food allergies right now- have you eaten something or entered something into your diet recently that is new?

the concept being since the allergens down there are so high if you’ve ingested a food that is also something you have an allergy too (even mild) the culmination of multiple allergies may cause symptoms.

and this is odd but too much citrus or citric acid can cause rashes and eczema stuff.

    • I’m so glad you said that. My daughter has had terrible-looking allergic reactions three times now after taking a full dose of a kids’ multivitamin. I swore up and down that it could be from the Vitamin C (because I once had a reaction to a mega-dose of C), but her pediatrician told me I was crazy.

      • I doubt the vitamin C thingy…

… I mean, you can’t live without vitamin C. You also can’t overdose it, in opposit to the A and B vitamins. If you get too much of it, it gets simply washed out of the body. Even when too much vitamin C is very bad for the stomache(like everyone probabl y knows, Vitamin C is an acid). If you think your daughter get an rash from it. You should first switch to another alternative multivitamin product. The rash could be also caused by something in the pills, syrup or juice. Very often the pills or syrups a r e containing “filling”-materials(like soja-products), artificial flavours, natural flavours(from fruits) till to colours(artificial or natural ones). Finally, you could try a more “natural” way to give your daughter vitamins. With fresh vegetables and fru its(red bellpeppers, for example, are pure vitaminC-bombs).
If nothing helps, bring your daughter to an allergy.specialist for an allergy test. The procedure is not very pleasant, especially for a kid, but it could help to find out what is causing the ski n reaction. Untreatened allergies could sometimes turning worse, from asthma till to an anaphylactic shock(sp?).

      • well, you may want to seek out a food allergist.
also you might want to read the Food Allergy Book by William Walsh.

you can be allergic to almost anything. or at least suffer from food sensitivities.

my husband is allergic to soy or any soy product. including vitamins- as they are often contained in capsules made from “vegetable product” that when you call the company the capsule is in fact made from soy byproduct. and product listing codes are still quite questionable.

the easiest thing is to try different products or take her to an allergist.

  5. *looking at the picture*(Nah,.. not the “icky” one :D) …

… Well, there is no doubt, you are looking simply gorgeous in it. ^_^ I nearly can’t await to see the complete photo-set. 🙂 I have no preference for colour or B/W pictures. Both have their minus- and plus-sides.

I second the suggestion to take your diet under a closer observation, if you have eaten something new or unusual the second time(you never get an allergic reaction at the first exposure, the second one is the one your immune system reacts). It could be also a skin or beauty product, even new clothing, since they are often impregnated with chemicals to look better or have special abilities(ironing-free clothes). As kid I get a pretty similar skin reaction to the chlorine in swimming pools. Lately more and more people get also negative reactions(neurodermitis) to raffinated sugar.
Anyway what it is, I hope your skin will get better soon.
