Tomorrow is our 5th wedding anniversary. I arrived home from work to beautiful flowers on my desk! They smell so wonderful! He also gave me a red rose as a part of the Rose Ceremony we had at our wedding.

After work, Danny had a hair appointment at the mall and I tagged along. I had been mentioning wanting to replace one or both of the rings on my right hand (one I bought at the Renaissance Festival when I was 12, one was made by my grandma and I’ve worn since I was 13 but is getting very bent). So, Danny said “Let’s go pick out a ring for you.”

I was looking mostly at the colored gemstones, but everything stuck out too far. I scratch myself with my engagement ring enough as it is. In the third store, Danny found a case of diamond anniversary bands. We ending up picking a (I will try to get the name if this right, but I seem to be lacking the diamond jewelry gene most girls are born with) 1/4 carat, princess-cut, channel-set, white gold band. I didn’t take a picture of it, but it looks close this one – just set a little different.

Apparently, it is a whole process to get a tiny ring. I need a size 4. They are having one custom made because I guess just sizing one down wouldn’t be a strong or as perfect. It is going to take until June to make it! Sheesh! Since they’d never sell anything if it always took that long, They are sizing down the one I tried on in the store, and in 10 days I get to keep that one until my custom ring is ready. I was soooo confused when the girl was explaining all that. She sent us home with an empty ring box, heh.

Thank you, Danny! It will be so beautiful!I know it is going to make me smile every day to be wearing a ring he gave me on that hand too.

5 years. It doesn’t feel like I’ve been married 5 years. It feels like a million and none at all. I couldn’t imagine life without him.

  1. Happy Anniversary!!

So beautiful! I loveLOVElovelooooove that band! I was looking at them myself but we figured we would get it on an Anniv. AND WOW, June?!? Dang!

  2. Aww how cute šŸ˜€

Speaking of rings.. I know someone who wanted to use so diamonds from her grandmother’s wedding ring in her wedding ring. One jeweller (as well spell it šŸ˜‰ tried to convince her, and I kid you not, that “it would be more special to have new diamonds”.

    Hilarious!

  3. Seems like just yesterday when I “met” you at STVlive and started commenting on your site … then over to the LJ … then you got married … and got a house … time is flying!

  4. Congrats to the two of you. I am so happy for you guys. Have the time of your life tomorrow and make sure to score. Hahahaha.

    The ring is very beautiful.

  5. WOO! Congratulations!!!

If it’s a channel set ring…you can’t size it down any because the diamonds would pop out. They’ll take a chunk of gold out of the back & then solder (spell?) it back together. If those things aren’t in there just right they will start coming out. (My hubby is a jeweler) =)

That’s a beautiful ring that you guys picked out!!!!!!

  6. Congratulations! I can’t believe it’s been 5 years! It seems like I had been reading your journal for a few years before you got married.

  7. Aww. Sweetness! I remember watching the broadcast of your guys wedding on STVLive.
That ring is beautiful..I love the simple-er rings without anything sticking up on it and white gold is my favorite. It’s not just you tho, I lack the jewelry gene, too. Oh well! That means guys can spend their money on more important things..like food..which I do love! hehe
