stephanie is: recovering from a migraine…
On Saturday, Danny and I drove to West Virginia to go hiking in Harper’s Ferry. The day was so super beautiful! The only imperfection in the weather was the sky went from being a georgeous blue to hazy white by the time we climbed up the mountain to the overlook. My shins are sore today from all the incline walking. There were several spots ont he incline where I was sure my lungs were going to give up. Allergies + out-of-shape lungs = ow. But I made it! I didn’t even fall on all the slopes and rocky areas. We’re not sure how far we hiked cause we did an unknown amount of one of the long trails before cutting over to the overlook trail. It was a good amount though. We had a time limit, so we couldn’t do the full long trail. I would have stopped for more photos if time had allowed, but as it is, I was able to put together a gallery of 53 photos. The autumn colors were finally in peak! And it was in the upper 70°s out!
Here are a few of my photos – a mix of landscapes and our snapshots.
Today was a busy day at the doggy daycare. The local news filmed a Wednesday’s Child there. The reporter, Barbara Harrison, is on the news I wake up to every morning, so it was interesting meeting her in person. I’m sure they will be doing a lot of editing… You know that saying about filming kids and animals. The boy was very sweet though. He had a developmental disability, but you could tell he really loved dogs. I was a dog wrangler for the shoot so there is bound to be at least my legs in a shot. It was amusing to do something second-nature (like offering an apron to the boy before he started bathing Buddy) and having the reporter say “Oh, film that!” and then be directed to keep starting over putting the apron on him (because he kept getting distracted). The owner and gm got some great footage helping the boy with the dogs. None of us expected to be on camera and weren’t fancied up for it. I was in no makeup, but I ate least wore a work logo shirt.
We don’t know when it is going to air – though it won’t be this week. Once it does air though, I know all of us at work are going to be following it to see if the boy gets adopted. He was really cute. While they were interviewing his foster mom in the lobby, they were letting him watch through the window while all of the film shoot dogs were playing with me and a manager. My girlie, Stella, was in there on my lap (along with Josie the golden – my lap was full!) and he kept calling her the “baby” and shhhsing everyone so she could nap.
around 3 pm today a migraine struck. It always sucks when one arrives at work, because I can see straight for about an hour. Luckily Danny was able to leave shortly, and we were on our way home (me with my coat over my head) within a half-hour. I covered myself with blankets when we got home and napped until dinnertime.
On Thursday, we are having a little evening luau at work – an event I am co-organizing. Fun! However, I’m not sure where to get a small Hawaiian shirt (like kids size so it isn’t a tent on me) at this short notice (and in November). Not a big deal though… I can wear a work shirt with a lei and flowers in my hair. I have a feeling there are going to be some very cute doggie pictures taken! If only I could clone myself so I could both take pictures and help run the event…
Okay, I am going to head up to bed. We wake up at 5:45 am. Hopefully my migraine nap won’t trigger my insomnia. (Of corse it will!)
