calm after the storm

I really appreciate all the support and ideas everyone has posted in regards to India.

We went to our vet and discussed the situation. I gave him 4 pages of notes I had written up. We decided that before we go to the extreme of stressful medical tests or medications, we would start working with a dog behaviorist. Our vet is willing to work together with the behavior expert should anything medical be required. Hopefully we will be able to get this allsorted out. I have sent an email to one behaviorist so far.

Things are again now. At one point last night, India was crying because she didn’t understand why she couldn’t sleep with us. It was a heartbreaking sound. Today the girls are out together as normal, and they have just been sleeping. India is on antibiotics for her punctures, but nothing else was required.

Hopefully we can work with India and figure out what is causing her to feel so stressed and threatened by the other animals. Should it be decided it is best that she not live in a home with other animals, then that is something I’ll have to come to terms with at the time. I can’t imagine not having her around, but it would be selfish of me and unfair to her if we were to keep her confined away from the others. I don’t want to even think about that until I have to.

But, we are being proactive now, and will do everything we can to figure out what is going on.
