happy birthday, danny!

Happy Birthday, Danny! I love, love, love you! Danny is hard to shop for – he likes fancy expensive things I wouldn’t be able to pick out, so I didn’t go too complicated with presents. My dad and I went in together on a $100 Starbucks gift card. He was in need of coffee beans and a new car mug right away, so I gave it to him a couple days early. He bought his goodies and still have plenty left over for fancy drinks for a while. That is, if he doesn’t spend it all on me! On Friday, I had a candy bouquet sent to his office. He and his office mate are always hoarding chocolates in their office, so I thought is was a fun and fitting gift. I wanted something more useful than flowers sent to him. He locked it up so his coworkers won’t eat them all over the weekend, heh.

Today we went to the Reston Pet Fiesta. It is a big pet-related fair sponsored by GoodDogz.org. There are a lot of fun events like a doggy fashion show and a Frosty Paw eating contest. I got to meet the winner of the Best Tail-Wagger when he dropped his ribbon and I ran to give it back – and adorable and happy yellow lab.

My work had a booth there so I wore my logo pin and stopped by to help for a while. A while became till the end because I love working at events and meeting all the doggies. I told Danny we could roll out at any time, but he was content to hang out with the puppies as well.

The weather was beautiful and sunny. I hadn’t worn sunscreen since I hadn’t expected be be in the sun all afternoon. So now I am a little pink all over my face. I am feeling a bit crappy due to that, bad allergies all day, and general aches. Nothing horrible, but I am awfully tempted to pop some popcorn and slip under the covers…

I took a lot of photos, and I tried for a more photojournalistic approach. I accidently had my camera on some weird manual setting and all but the first 4 came out great! I guess I really need to learn how to use all the fancy manual settings on my camera. I was taking them quickly and not checking them out afterwards. I really know nothing about photography beyond composition learned in art classes. Who wants to be my teacher? I am a great student!

Tomorrow we are going to visit my brother and his family mid-day. We are splitting a family-pack of the newest OS X version, so I need to pick up mine. I haven’t seen my niece since she recently started walking. Afterwards we may swing by the local mall (which has grown so much it is unrecognizable to me despite my living there in high school). We are going to have a “mother’s day” dinner with my daddy before heading home to grocery shop.

Busy, busy, busy. The weekends are always too short!
