at a loss…
i’m really at a f*cking loss as to what to do for stvlive.com. there is no good payment method for me. merchant accounts cost more than the site makes, billing services like ccbill and ibill can’t do visa billing without insanely high fees (and have a bit of a sleaze factor associated with them because they do so much pr0n billing), yahoo paydirect requires people to sign up before paying… i just don’t know what to do. the site might end up just going free with minimal content. i need to look at my stats and try to estimate how much bandwidth i can handle. this whole thing is making me feel sick to my stomach as it did 4 years ago when i went pay. something that i enjoy doing shouldn’t cause me physical discomfort.
i am trying to work out on paper and in my head what i’d need to do to return to a fee site. perhaps i can do somecoding so that i can make certain images from my gallery available with a simple database change, allowing me to change out available content regularly. maybe i should also leave the full gallery intact for those with lifetime memberships and those who want to send a postal payment (or wishlist item i guess). don’t mind me as i think “out loud”. big changes make me feel very unsettled.
asdkjfasjdhjfsa. talking to danny helps. what is stvlive.com to me now? my diary, scrapbook, photo album, modeling portfolio, online experiment, and personal site gone out of control. it is too expensive to have the whole world see it. so why not have access for only my friends and family, people who have been interested enough to get lifetime accounts in the past, and people interested enough to get them in the future? since less people will join, i’d probably put a little more content/effort into the free side. and it would be nice to not feel obligated to play around on my cam or post photo sets – i wouldn’t have to feel guilty about just doing them whenever i feel like it.
hm. so how does this sound:
- member area contains all my photos/cams as it does now. you have access if you: are a lifetime member, become a lifetime member via gift or donation over a certain value, or happen to be a friend that i’d like to give access to.
- the free side will be stripped of outdated/unnecessary content to save on space. i would increase the size of the free gallery and rotate what is shown.
- joining the site would no longer be the main point. enjoying what i share of my life and art would.
i kinda want the stress relief of going out dancing tonight… but it’s raining, danny wouldn’t want to go, i don’t have a ride or anyone to go with, and i’m lame. sometime soon, i hope.
