stephanie is: worn out worn out…
my “day” was very short last night… i need to switch to a day schedule so i had to go back to bed 8 hours after i got up. needless to say i slept like poo, but i went through the motions for 5 hours or so to at least get rest.

a little after 2pm i drove out to tysons for an interview with a doggie daycare center. i got there early and the owner and manager were stuck in a meeting with a salesman (of cleaning supplies – important for a doggy daycare!), so one of the girls gave me a tour then a sat and crochetted more on my baby blanket for a while. the owner is actually due in february. lots of babies due this spring… i interviewed with them around 3:30ish. then we said hi to a few of the doggies quickly and i bought a treat for the girls before leaving.

i would probably end up on the morning shift so i’d be working while danny slept and have a few hours with him before he went to work in the evenings. of course it would be great if he worked that shift too, but i can’t see him ever giving up his nights. on the morning shift, i would need to be there at 6:45am. yea, earlies. i don’t mind getting up early and all… after all my strange hours there is no longer early/late to me – all that matters is getting enough sleep. but it would be tough to drag myself away from talking to friends online early enough to get some sleep. people drop their doggies off in the mornings and they get broken up into groups according to their size and energy levels. i would be one of the people to monitor to rooms. you rotate through which ones you handle, since obviously the big dog room is a wee bit more active then the little dog room. they have a two hour nap time around 1pm i think. then i’d be free to eat lunch and take care of my assigned chore for the day. after that, the night shift arrives to help wake the dogs back up, and everyone meets to brief each other on the dogs’ behavior that day.

i’d be on the starting hourly pay for a month, then if i am happy there and they are happy with me, i’d get a raise and stuff. you can get health care and paid vacations later. i could bring up to two dogs with me (though i would only bring dia… china wouldn’t enjoy it) and i’d get a discount in their store. and that is that.

i like what i know so far. it is a busy, energetic job, but perfect for a dog-person. they know that if they pick me they also get an in-house web designer, so i’ve got that on my side. i love that they are shelder/rescue-friendly… they are planning to do a fashion show with dogs up for adoption. how cute is that? they are decideing tomorrow (!) so i’ll know either way very soon. they had their opening listed in the washington post, so who knows how many people they’ve met with… if i find out i got it, i am going clothes shopping at the maul this weekend. it is casual dress there (obviously) and i don’t think i could get away with wearing my pants 2-3 times before washing like i normally do if i am going to be around 70 dogs…

i left there at 4:30pm and stopped by the p.o. box to ship back the firewire camera the manufacterer had send (as it turns out it is my firewire card that is dead). i bought 2 more skeins of baby yarn for my blankie at the michael’s near by. then i stopped off at the pet store for crickets, bunny litter, and hay. we still need cat litter, but you get butt raped for it everywhere but the bulk store. we need to figure out if our membership is still good for this month.

now i am just gonna do some web work till i needto wake danny up… i’ll be in chat (irc.undernet.org #stvlive) and on aim (punquin).

oh! and the doggies picked the winner of the autumn contest! i let them pick between the three folded up papers and it was unanimously “wraithslayer”. his paper is rather soggy now…
