stephanie is: hungry hungry…
i am pretty hungry, but danny is off at a work meeting and i’m not sure if they are feeding him there (or if he is even coming home before his shift starts). i’ll wait a bit longer and just have a snack for now.

the new shampoo i got is causeing me to have flashbacks to the tinkerbell cologne (picture) i had as a little girl. so i stink good.

yesteryday i got up early so i could drive out to opalcat’s house and drop off her key (i had fed her cats this summer). she kindly showed me where the fabric store was in her area and took me to lunch. we ran a few errands together, then i drove out to reston to my p.o. box. there was a package from the lovely xxlilyxx. it was to thank me for some web site help, but itwas such a great goodie box that i need to make her a thank you gift for her thank you gift!

in between my freelance work i have been sewing the renaissance costume i was inspired to make. i didn’t get to start on it untill last night since i had the wrong size pattern, but i got the blouse and vest done.

i did those pieces first as they are the harder ones and i wanted to get them out of the way. i have two skirts left to do but they are simple. i could probably finish tonight if i don’t get sick of miles of hemming. the vest still needs the backings of the grommets hammered on, but i couldn’t seem to hammer hard enough. maybe i can convince danny to help… he keeps making fun of me for like the renaissance festival. the vest was the first time i’d used boning, grommets, darts, and double fold bias tape. the blouse was the first time i’d made an elastic casing with single fold bias tape. i was so glad i thought to sew a long cord into the 45″ neck casing… i was able to tie the (half as long) elastic to the cord and pull it through.

the hurricane is still heading straight for us. luckily the d.c. area is far enough inland that it is likely to be a tropical storm/depression by that point. but i expect if we get any of it we will have some power outages. so tonight i will go out and fill my gas tank and get so essentials from the 24/7 grocery. since we’ve lived here the power has never been out for more than a day, but you never know. we’ve never had a hurricane hit us either. my server is now off site, but obviously the cams would be off if we had no power.

i just heard from danny that he did eat in his meeting. so i will fix myself some food and take “lunch” to him tonight where i run my errands. what are the most important thigs to have if the power goes out?

if you go to comment right now, i appologize for the garbled entry. looks like i found a bug in the new server. at this point i can’t even delete it, let alone edit it. i’ll ask danny to look at the mysql settings. i have no clue what is wrong, but when i made my post the database saved it all mixed up with parts doubled. gaaah!! i’ll leave comments on in lj in case they are broken as well.)

  1. If you haven’t a completely…

… from the electricity independend kitchenoven(gas or coal/wood heated) I would suggest a small camping-oven, to be able to make tea, coffee or a hot vegetable-soup.
Well, bottled water, candles (don’t forget the matches), a little bit canned precooked food, cookies, batteries for flashlights and radio, glowsticks(err,.. those plastic sticks filled with two liquids who needs to be broken and shaken to give then a green or blue light) oh, and for the worst case a boat..*got bricked for uncalled sillieness* 😀

    *skips off to bed* 🙂

  2. Maybe some sort of cooler or dry ice, to keep some of your perishable food stuffs from going bad, but hopefully the power wouldn’t be out that long. Oh and a battery run game thing or new books to alleviate boredom.

  3. yay! ren faire! I have yet to attempt to sew a corset, but man I can sew a shift like nobody’s business 🙂 I told I’d sew some shirts and trousers for his costume so I should probably get on that before the season ends 🙂
