stephanie is: tired…
so, i went to my interview today. i actually found the place okay! that is no small feat for me. i had chosen the route with the least number of roads and avoided the beltway. i felt the interview went well. the job is a graphic designer position at a weekly magazine (both print and online). it seems like it would be something i’d really enjoy and i felt comfortable talking with the art director. he said that he has two more interviews but would have the other art director call to set up some time for me to come in and meet the rest of the creative team. that seems like a good sign!
i took the beltway home. baaad move. two hours later i got home, thanks to me going the wrong way at first and being stuck in awful traffic both ways. i’ll stick to route 50 next time, thanks. there was a message for me when i got home about setting up meeting next wednesday morning. it was just past business hours so i left a message that i was available and would call next week to confirm.
i shall stick to a day schedule for now and see how things go. i have some freelance work to finish up in the next several days and it doesn’t really matter if it is day or night when i work on it. i had only been on a night schedule so i could sleep with my husband. i will be sad about loseing that time with him if i get the job. but paying bills is good. it would also be nice to be back in a steady office environment again.
hm… the past few days have mostly involved working and redoing my hair (a 15-20 hour process i have to go through every two months, but i don’t mind).
we did go out one night this week… some of danny’s coworkers from san antonio were going out for sushi and then to a pool hall to watch the spurs basketball game, so we tagged along. i had not yet found anything at a sushi restaurant that i liked, but i decided to be brave and give it another try. i didn’t want to waste money on something expensive i might not like so i chose a sald that had avacado and seaweed. “salad”. it turned out to be just a little plate with half a sliced avacado, a little pile of seaweed, a little pile of shredded potato? and a lettuce leaf garnish. hm. i love avacado, but not enough to just eat half of one plain. i did my best to eat a little, but i enjoyed being there and seeing all the colorful food everyone else got.
at the pool hall (hard times) i ordered a veggie frito pie (mm mm mm) and inhaled it. i hadn’t played pool in several months so i was really terrible my first two games. i did okay but didn’t win on my last two. towards the end of the basketball game danny and i shared a mud pie (hadn’t had one before – was good but i wasn’t big on the nuts in it).
danny has the weekend off. he has been in a class for work all week. it is thundering outside… i am very grateful it waited until after i got home!
