tired…
i just posted about my dad’s surgery in a diary entry on my site. the surgery went well and he was released on saturday. thank you to everyone who offered kind words of support. it was a long day for everyone – especially for my dad who was awake for the majority of his brain surgery. we were at the hospital for him from around 5:45am to 6pm. he asked me to take photos for his website so i took as many as i could and gave my camera to one of the surgeons for OR photos. he will be posting a gallery of them soon and most likely a detailed diary entry on his web site.
when i got home there were a few presents under the tree for me! they were from danny, but one was from “cubby and poopoo” (our dogs). he says hey are silly gifts (since we can’t afford a nice christmas) but it is nice to gift each other gifts regardless of how fancy they are.
over the weekend the beta cam driver i had been using (and having MANY problems with) finally hosed my system. i reinstalled osX 10.2.2 and was able to recover everything, but many of my permissions are still fucked up. i am not quite used to working on a unix based mac os so it feels strange chowning and chmoding my files. it is up and workable and i am just fixing permissions as i run into problems. i am not using the beta drivers anymore and am getting rid of that camera (it was on it’s death bed anyway). i ordered the only camera i found that seemed to be very solid for osX 10.2 – so much so that dirvers are not needed. they are included in the operating system. it was $100 but i used site join money since it is a ‘business expense’. my computer will be happy and beta-test free.
tomorrow i will be helping out a friend at 11am so i may be gone all afternoon. i think danny is scheduling a lunch with friends but i doubt they would be able to eat early enough for me to go too. i need to discuss a project with someone at some point. and i should probably leave a note the door since i am not sure if fedex needs a signature for my camera. i need to go to the pobox but i will try that tuesday (supposeing my car battery hasn’t died again…)
i have had a rather bad sore throat all day. i am hoping i didn’t catch the plague from the hospital… i was rather suseptable to germs since i had 2 hours of sleep and only one meal to keep me going. hopefully i won’t be worse tomorrow – that would make what i need to get done rough.
would any of you local friend-type-people be interested in a party at our place for the holidays. i would like to have one, but it would have to be somewhat potluck since our wallets are rather empty. if everyone is going to be busy then it wouldn’t be worth the bother. and i need to see what my daddy is doing for christmas – he is welcome to visit with us.
right now, i am going to go get into bed and read till i am ready to sleep. night night everyone.
