hm, so i’ve been curious as to why my site joins have been next to nothing this month. i have been having more cam shows and have been adding lots more pictures and movies to the galleries… but is there something i am missing or something i could improve? i’d love some feedback and ideas. i’ve slacked on the diray because i’ve been transfering my lj entries to my own database, though i do have all the photos and info i need to catch up. should i be selling extras like cd archives, special photos sets, internal organs? hmm hmm hmmm.

in thinking about your site and other sites similar to yours, i’m wondering if your site is at its peak level of entertainment, for the amount of entertainment you do. the same, similar sites as yours might be in same position membership-wise.
perhaps you need to pass your virtual business card around to more cam portals, and get more people to come to your site. as cams go, the concept and entertainment level seem to be up a notch from where you are now, if you know what i mean. its sad to think a cam site solution to be popular would be to go adult, even if the cam person is technically not one.
just hang in there…spread your card around. hopefully you’ll get more peeps to well, peep in…

It could be the economy, you know. A lot of economic sectors are having a hard time scaring up consumer money lately.
Your site is awesome and there’s no reason not to join (I did)! As bagu said, if more people saw it, maybe more would join.

Do you have records from last year that might indicate whether it’s a seasonal thing? i.e. the month or two after Christmas might be an annual down period as people see their credit card bills from the holidays. (Just a wild guess.)

I would have to say it is just the economy Punquin. Spending is off across the board but especially in the area of *gasp* (i hate to say it) non essential items. I think once things pick up in general you will see your sales pick up again.

Is there an untapped quiz aficionado population?
Are there any web sites that list or promote the “quizzes” that are so “in” these days? (The “what kind of rock am I?” based on answers to deep psychological questions like “which breakfast cereal do you prefer?” type quiz.) Since you’ve just polished off a quiz script, getting a few entertaining quizzes out where the people that are hooked on them will encounter them might hit a vein of readers that might otherwise not find stvlive and draw them in. This presumes that there are places other than LJ to advertize the quizzes, of course, and how much time quiz generation would take is another issue.
Just a random thought.

I saw on another site that they had a short tutorial on how to set up your own site. Setting up the server and routers and things. Maybe you could add some stuff like that. Or maybe some short tutorials on how to set up simple web pages? Can we pick your brains for info on building websites?

I’m always impressed by your pictures. Maybe a Photoshop tutorial. It’s getting away from the whole cam-site idea, but it’s what I’d like to see. =]
What exactly does a membership to your site get someone that they can’t get already by just browsing as a non-member?
it pretty much says in the join section http://www.stvlive.com/join/
guests only get a picture of two from each gallery while members have 15,000+ images and movies. guests get two cams that refresh at 5 minutes and members get 8 at 20 seconds, plus 4 live streams with sound and a show cam for cam shows. then some other stuff… archive of things to save on bandwidth.
have you considered new revenue streams besides the beads?
perhaps doing custom painting for people?

This may sound a little off the wall…….But did you try selling memebrship packages on ebay? Maybe a membership combined with a mug or t-shirt.
If nothing else, you may not sell that particular package, but post a link to your site as well.

Okay, give me some time to come up with some tutorial ideas for you. I am overloaded with work and school right now so try to be patient with me.
i really think you should sell cd archives and little extras. then non members would buy them who just want pictures or people who have really slow connections like me and get annoyed waiting for pictures to load. that would bring in some extra money. i would buy them when i got money. right now i’m flat broke and about to lose my car heh.
