stephanie is: in pain in pain…

we fly back this afternoon/night. and of course my period decided to start last night. i cried when i found out because i knew it meant i’d be spending the most painful miserable day of my period stuck on planes for hours and hours. i woke up at 8:15 am today – i think it was because i heard people milling about. but he cramps kept me awake. i took medicine and got dressed, but now i am laying down typing this cause the pain is imoblizing me. ooowww. okay well let me rite about the past few days.

hm, so saturday we got to meet candace and jon! woo! they were down in palm springs vacationing over thanksgiving break so they stopped by dan’s grandparents house and we all walked arounf downtown palm springs. not a lot there, but the weather was nice. their hotel was really cool – lava lamps, a pool, funky furnature, and cable modem hookups all over. we all went to a really good deli for lunch, then they dropped us off so they could go swimming and relax at their hotel.

izzi and jon (i swear everyone’s boyfriend is named jon!) sarrived in palm desert late afternoon and came over before dinner. we decided on a tasty mexican restaurant. we couldn’t get a hold of candace and jon unfortunatly. i must have had the wrong room number. when we got to the restaurant it was a mob out front. people everywhere and it was valet parking. i’ve never done valet parking before. i’m not that posh. hehe i’d be paranoid about handing someone my keys. we put in our name and they said it would be 45 minutes to an hour. we waited an hour and 20 minutes before complaining and finally getting a table. for dinner i had guacamole and nachos – mmaking sure to eat more beans and salsa than cheese so i wouldn’t get sick later. it was all tasty. candace and jon called towards the end. we weren’t sure if we would be doing anything later but we told them we’d call if we were.

after dinner we flipped though the phone book trying to find something to do, but we were uninspired. all we ended up doing was driving around for an hour trying to find somewhere to get desert that wasn’t already closed. we ended up at denny’s. then we all went home to sleep.

the next morning izzi and jonathan came by to get us and we all headed up into the mountains to take a tram ride to the top, after stopping for a greasy breakfast. it was pretty chilly already just where we parked the car and went to the visit center.

the tram tickets were expensive! $20 each, gah! we all got 11:30 tickets and took some pictures out the window till it was time to board. i was scared of the heights but i did good. there were so many rude people on the way up that they wouldn’t let izzi and i go to the windows and take pictures. we had to do it over people’s heads. i even asked someone for a space by the window and some rude guy stole it that very second. it was cold at the top and they announced that they expected to have snow before 7pm. we couldn’t hike around like we had planned because it was already freezing raining. it was still beautiful.

we took the tram back down after getting photos outside for as long as we could stand. it was early afternoon after we left the montains so we stopped by a grocery store to by some stuff to have for lunch. danny and i got soup, pasta salad, and cookies, mm. we ate back at our relatives’ house. everyone watched some golf game on tv that was going on a few miles away, then we went back to their hotel room and waited for jen and jon (another jon!) to get there. we all caravaned to a chinese restaurant where i had extra spicey chili string beans.

afterwards we wondered up and down the street, but once we realized there were no nearby starbucks, we headed for the cars and drove to one. mm hot apple ciders with caramel… suposedly there was an ice skating rink in the mall across the street so we headed over to do that. um, it was shut down. dang, no love. we wandered the mall then decided to call information to find a bowling alley. they gave us an address and well headed that way. when we got there is was a closed down crap hole. doh! so we gave up and headed back to the hotel to just hang out.

it was nice just talking and watching tv together. some people drank and izi and i had water and vending machine snacks. 75 cents for 1 ounce of cool ranch doritos?! that was like 6 chips. i got sleepies so we went home and let them hang out some more.

yesterday was a pretty quiet day… izzi and jonathan left early so we had lunch downtown with jen and jon. we walked around, but there was still not much to see. they headed off to decide if they were saying the night somewhere or driving back. i got really sleepy and felt bad so i took a nice long nap (turned out it was for girrlie reasons but i didnt know that at the time). danny woke me up and we tried to go to dinner with his grandparents at two of heir favorite italian places but they were both closed. weird. it was only 7 pm. we ended up at a denny’s-like place called coco’s. danny and i ate gardenburgers. i satarted feeling worse when we got home so i showered and got into bed. i couldn’t sleep from a tummy ache so i was still awake when danny came to bed. my tummy ache turned to girlie cramsp, so after some tears and medicine i got some light sleep till this morning.

they prolly think i’ve gone back to sleep cause i’ve been in the bedroom typing so long. danny is still asleep. it is 9:48 now. i guess i should pack up our shower stuff. i’d be too loud if i packed up my suitcase right now. I HURT.

  1. hey, fyi…when i get braids like those and i don’t want the edges to fray….what i do is cut it off fresh then add just a teeny amount of gel medium to the ends like you would hair gel and it works like a charm and it doesn’t ever come off even when wet šŸ™‚

  2. cant believe that tried two restaraunts and they were both closed…seems like that was the theme of the weekend :)…everything we tried to do was ‘closed’ or not there or something :)…I was just glad to be hanging out with you guys :)…I hope you feel better and have a safe trip…

  5. I love late 50’s to mid 60’s decor (that sort of retro-futuristic look). Very cool. I was sad when Disneyland ripped out all of their “futuristic” stuff (“home of tomorrow” and other tomorrowland delights..)

It’s great you had a good trip. Sorry about the girlie stuff. What a pain. šŸ™
