stephanie is: okay…
i feel i had a productive day of working even if i started late. tonight i have to get site work done. this evening, danny and i braved the rush hour traffic. we had received a flyer for sam’s club and decided to go join. danny was filling out the form there and it asked for how you were going to pay. he took out his mastercard to get the number and the lady stopped him and said they don’t take it. they don’t take visa or mastercard (unless it is an atm version). how lame. we didn’t want to be limited in payment choices so we said “fine, we are going to costco”. the lady smirked and said they don’t take them either. int he parking lot i asked danny what store we used to go to back in 1998 in alexandria. it was bj’s club so he called and found out where they were. so we rejoined there and they accept everything. we found a lot of blulk items we will use but we do still need to go grocery shopping. danny is baking sour dough bread with a mix he got for his bread machine.
and they say visa goes everywhere…
or is that american express?
I didn’t know they even took Visa or MasterCard if they were ATM cards. Something to check out. They used to only take Discover.
Glad you found one that you could join though. They have so much cool stuff. 🙂
Isn’t that annoying. On my first trip to Sam’s I had filled up a basket and went to pay with my Visa card. They told me they only accepted the Discover card or checks. I told the cashier that was ridiculous and, having neither a Discover card or my checkbook on me, walked out and left her standing there with my cart full of goods. I no longer shop at Sam’s. Buying in bulk isn?t worth the inconvenience.
There is a way to use credit cards at Sam’s Club, albeit indirectly: Stop at a Wal-mart first, use your credit card to put enough on a gift card for what you plan to buy, then use the gift card at Sam’s Club. I did it that way to pay for a new hard drive for my computer – the Wal-mart I used was about 4 blocks from Sam’s Club. Use every loophole you can.
