stephanie is: okay…
i woke up late (10am) cause i went to bed late (3:30am). i just fed the dogs and cleaned the kitchen. i need to do laundry and clean the house today/tonight. tomorrow afternoon we are taking the train to new york, spending one night there, and sightseeing before returning sunday evening. we’ve had our reservations for some time. hm, what should we see in new york that doesn’t cost a lot?
i need to go post in the mac community for a problem i’m haveing with my new computer setup.
I thought the NBC studio tour was fun, and I don’t remember it costing a whole lot. It takes about an hour and a half though.
the one other time i’ve been to new york (age 12 with a middle school field trip) we spent the whole day at nbc cause our chaparone’s sister worked there. so i don’t know if i need to do that again. especially when i rarely watch nbc…
Ewww, good point. I think a whole day there would get really old.
I can’t think of anything else we did that didn’t cost an arm and a leg though. Oh, we did ride the Staten Island Ferry to take a look at the Statue of Liberty, since we didn’t have time to go to the statue. I don’t think that cost anything.
Duh!
*whacks self in the forehead
Gray Line and probably some other companies have tour buses that take you just about everywhere, so you get a good taste of things. I can’t think of how much it was, but it was reasonable for what you got.
FAO Schwartz is always a good time.
And I thought hanging outside at the Today Show and trying to get on TV was fun (plus Solidad O’Brien is my secret love).
There is the Natural History Museum which is also good cheap fun.
Have a good time !!!!
I *heart* NY
Free: Central Park (tons of beautiful stuff to see and great city views), Times Sqaure, walking around Greenwich Village / Soho
Worth the money: Empire State Building (go very early or late to avoid lines), riding the subway (saves tons of time), eating a swanky vegetarian meal.
New York sights
If you’ve got a hang glider, I understand the Statue of Liberty is very nice to visit.
When I went a few years back I climbed everything that was climable. For some reason I also have a fodors guide book to New York in my desk drawer at work. Its a 1999 but you are welcome to have it if you want?
