stephanie is: busy busy…
i’ve been busy busy all day working on a zillion stvlive things. the streaming section is updated with tons more choices on how to view. more to come later today. then this evening i need to do more freelance work.
i must break now and give bean and myself a bath…
audio only?
i can add that if you want…
i personally don’t really watch the streaming during shows, usually i’m working on other work stuff, but i listening to your comments during chat sessions is fun. prolly save bunches of bandwidth and get better audio. but it isn’t really worth the effort for just one individual.
Anyone else interested in just audio?
Audio-only makes sense if it’s really lower bandwidth than audio with video (common sense says it should be, unless there’s some kind of automatic quality tradeoff at play). For those with low-bandwidth access, streaming audio-only coupled with normal 20-second meta refresh could be a compromise between silent meta refresh and full-bandwidth streaming with audio.
Another option I have sometimes thought might be useful would be a “pause” button on the remote window to stop and restart the image updates, so that if a viewer is leaving the computer for a few minutes, s/he could save bandwidth without killing the whole remote window and having to go through the couple of steps to restore it upon return. Depends on conscientious viewers, of course.
to java or not to java?
What’s the difference between java streaming and plain streaming? Aren’t they both using that SiteCamLive program?
Are there any ups/downs to either format?
Re: to java or not to java?
the streaming will try to choose the best option for your computer (java or server push) and the java forces it to use the java (what i was using before).
you just have to see what works best for you…
