stephanie is: back to work…
hello. i am back – and in one piece. it was only 3 right turns to get there so not even i could screw it up. the biggest plus about the place i that it is pretty close to home.
the interview went well. a lot of talk about my goals, their goal, etc.. we went over some ofmy sites – including some stuff on this one (um, hello! hehe). it seems like a small company (dang i forgot to ask how many employees they have). the computers – mostly pcs – were lined up along the wall so you can see everyone’s backs and monitors… that is something that has always given me the oogies, but not too big of a deal. they have the normal benefits and it is 14 days of vacation/sickleave accrued the first year. the hours kind of suck but they are normal – 9 to 6 with a forced hour lunch. i am used to doing 8 to 4 and eating while i work at my desk. though they do have a telecommuter, it seems it is something reseved for people who have been there years. i am not sure that they would offer me a high enough salary since it is a junior designer position and i am coming off a senior one. hmm… my brain needs to process it all.
i have the number of the president of a leesburg design company that i have been refered to by a former coworker. i will need to call them.
now i have contract work to do. a client approved a design i did and i am moving to the html stage. there are several other jobs lined up from the same contract company. woohoo! i need to work on some freelance admin type stuff but so much of the day is already gone. danny is home sick with monster allergies. i was hoping he’d feel up to lunch but he is still sleeping and medicated so perhaps we can do dinner.
ya uhhhmmm….
ya ahhhh….
hello punq potential employers, hehe.
see how honest a grrl ya got here, giving a job interviewer access to her digital diary. i think she deserves a raise just for that ;*)
What did you wear to the interview? Did you do the suit thing, or for a web job interview, do you feel it more appropriate to be less formal and more…funky?
Be wary of small companies with no cubicle walls. They can be great to work for or they can be a real pain in the ass to work for (usually the latter). Sounds like they’re going to be time ogres, so that may be something to really consider.
Best of luck on your search!
i wore a black short sleeve sweater, black tights, and a fun bright blue plaid skirt…
A number of years ago I had a job interview in Emoryville CA (Bay area) and accidently to a wrong turn off of the freeway into Oakland. I didn’t realize something was wrong until I noticed all of the boarded up building, burned out cars, and gang “brothas” everywhere. I didn’t get scared until they all started pointing at me. I left quickly.
I think its great that you got there and everything went well… facing and working on phobias is the scariest thing in the world.
