stephanie is: awake…
goodmorning… i have been awake since about 8am – out of bed since about 9am. i am baking apple pasteries. no, i am not the talented – they were in our freezer.
i was not impressed with “the virgin suisides” last night. it was about girls commiting suiside. at the end of the movie, that is still all you know. you never really get to know the characters so i wasn’t touched at all by it… maybe it’s just me?
yesterday i was feeling sooo sleepy that i almost took a nap. but i didn’t want to screw up my sleep schedule (since i don’t have the luxery of naps during the week). so instead i potted lots of seeds for my kitchen window. so far i only have one little sprout – a chili plant. i have a brown thumb. 5 of my forst 6 plantings died and the chili is all that lived. i planted more chilis, oregeno, cilantro, pansys, petunias, balloon flowers, and strawberries. grow! grow! grow!
As I understand it if you sit there for about 30 mins everyday and just shout “GROW YOU LITTLE BASTARDS! GROW!” at them…. all shall be well
good morning Steph…..:)
I watched Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp last nite and if you like Spooky ghost stories than this is must see tv……i luved it!!!!
Bah! I thought Virgin Suicides was lame too, it made me mad cuz you didn’t get to know why they did it.. I even watched it three times, thinking that maybe I just missed something… Bah! I hate useless violence.
hm..
it made sense to me, but maybe im just weird..
I read the book when it came out and didn’t like it, but I think I was too young to understand it back then. I loved the movie, though. I guess I just liked the way it was filmed more than anything.
It’s funny. Everyone i have ever talked to who has said they did not like the VIrgin Suidide’s hasn’t been able to connect with the fact that the movie has to be watched from the perspective of the boys who were infatuated by the girls.
Usually in “ordinary” movies, you learn about the characters from either the characters themselves or those who know them best. This movie is wholly about learning about the characters in the last moments, from those who didn’t know them but who REALLY wanted to. It is about the tragedy of NOT knowing them well enough.
It is a beautiful film. Don’t “GET IT.” The best art isn’t “GOTTEN.”
*SIGH*
yes, i understood that it was from the boy’s point of view so we did not get to learn more. i still did not like it.
I thought it was great,.. not many things can put me to sleep so quickly.
