4″ of snow closes the schools??????? Geez, if Buffalo did this they would have no school from December to May.

michigan has been getting plastered with snow…stupid lake effect.
they’ve actually closed school here 4 days in the last 2 weeks because they were unable to plow the back streets.
course…we got over 30 inches in a couple days too..thats a lot of snow

When I was in Texas, we had a few snow days… but it wasn’t because of the snow… it was because of the sleet… it would rain all night long, coat all the roads and streets with black ice, and then people would start wrecking.
I think we wouldn’t have gotten those days off if the dirt roads wouldn’t ice over, too. They would call off school when even ONE school bus couldn’t complete their route… gotta love rural America.

Was in Memphis several years ago. They had about 2″ of snow. Apparently they declared some type of snow emergency. We were stopped by the State Highway Patrol and nearly arrested for being out and driving.
He finally let us go once we promised to go straight back to the hotel. He even followed us for several miles.
Its all what you become accustomed to.

Oklahoma’s pretty bad about closing everything down too. We get the sleet and snow. It’s just a big mess. And, you’ll still have people driving 40mph with a cell phone to their ear. They’ll zoom passed everyone and then you’ll see them in a ditch up the road. Grrr. Pisses me off. People are so retarded sometimes.
i think it’s what a town in prepared for. Michigan is used to getting 1-2 feet of snow, and has the manpower and equipment to make the roads drivable. A state like South Carolina and Virginia doesn’t have the man power and lots of equipment available to make the roads drivable when they get4 inches of snow. ya know 🙂
