stephanie is: sleepy sleepy…

i’ve got the afternoon sleepies. bleh. if i weren’t at worque i would soo be asleep right now. still don’t know if i will go out tonight.

got an email from my aunt. she lives out in albuquerque, nm (i used to spend summers out there – even got my first driver’s license there). they have a nasty nearby fire. click the picture to read an article on cnn.

here is part of what she wrote:

Current conditions have the fire burning from the western edge of Los Alamos across town and to the east. So far Los Alamos is evacuated, White Rock just to the east and south of Los Alamos started evacuating at 1 am this morning
and just this morning they have started evacuating the western side of Espanola which is well east of Los Alamos. Los Alamos, for those not familar with the terrain, is set high up on a mesa overlooking both the Bandelier National Monument and the southern edge of the Rio Grande Valley leading to the Carson National Forest. If the conditions hold it will go east and
north. If the front comes through as predicted it will turn to the south through Bandelier and possibly the Jemez (incidentally you can tell a local from a tourist by how they say that. Gem-is means a tourist as a local knows it’s really Hay-mess) to the Middle Rio Grande Valley and Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Hopefully they’ll get it under control long before then. Those
of us in Albuquerque might get some smoke and ash soon if the winds shift. Right now it looks like a haze to the north.

Yes, the state of New Mexico is burning and there isn’t one thing we can do about it other than pray. Wish us all luck please. We need it.
